I saw a pair that Performance made. They were pretty good.

I saw a pair that came on a Nashbar bike, tightened them up a
good deal, they've been fine--note that they may not be made
by the same people who make Nashbar's mail order wheels.

I ordered 3 sets of wheels from PS&S in the past.
These are El Cheapo brand hubs (Miche's) with 14 ga. DT's
on Arc-en-Ceil tubular rims. (Getting the picture? the
cheapest, lightest rims I can get). These were not custom,
	and therefore even cheaper.
Since I have 3 sets, you can infer that I am pleased with them.
(If you weigh above #150, get stronger rims! There are good
choices of pre-made rims for clinchers. The Super Champion
	is a good one)

What I have found is that the price is hard to beat. Locally,
some shops will charge you fully twice as much for the rims.
The rims I got (Either by Wheelsmith or built at PS&S) were
real tight, nary a creak; I've got 3k miles on one of them.

I was tempted to order from Performance, but they don't have
the choices for pre-built tubulars. The Arc-en-Ceil's are
cheap and you can beat them up without guilt. My guess is that
Performance would be just fine (I've ordered lots of stuff from them),
with the usual caveats posted elsewhere in the notes file about
their's and others' idiosyncracies on ordering.

I just received a pair of ma40 rims from performance. I am extremely
pleased with the results. I had them built on the performance
hub....jury is still out on them. We'll see in a few thousand miles.

I did go for a couple of short rides this weekend (30 milers) and
was pretty pleased. For $78 a pair, they may be good for training.

Has anyone ordered a wheelset from Colorado Cyclist? They advertise
    in the back of Bicycling.

    Yeap,
Just mounted my $119.00 Mavic MA40's with Shimano 600 ex hubs.
They are marvelous! They were delivered 1 week after I ordered
them and I couldn't find a lower price anywhere. I'd definately
    order from them again.
