195.0. "ATB purchase" by CHFV03::STEINER () Fri Jan 09 1987 03:05

    I am considdering buying an ATB. Primary use will be around town
    and some light off road use (no racing). I also intend to pull
    a bugger with it on short 10-50 mile day trips.

    Questions:

    1) Suggested makes/models?
    2) Are they available used? (does any one have one they want to
    sell?)
    3) Are they as much fun as they appear to be?

    Thanks for any help,

    Karl

    ROSS makes several models from $250 up. They are great for just
    about anything you want to do on a bike.

    re:which ATB

    A friend of mine who owns a bike shop in California recommends, for
    an entry level ATB, the Mongoose model with an indexing shift system
    which should be hitting the market right about now. At approx.
    $320 it should destroy the competition in this price range. Incidently,
    he unfortunately does not carry Mongoose.

    ATB's are MUCH fun.
