184.0. "Back-order speed record..." by RAINBO::WASSER (John A. Wasser) Wed Dec 03 1986 17:36

	Last week I ordered some stuff from Performance Bicycle Shop
	including some hubs and a polypropylene ear band. Today (about
	one week later - including Thanksgiving day) the ear band
	arrived in the mail with the invoice saying "Here is the
	merchandise that was back-ordered". The part of the order
	that wasn't "back-ordered" hasn't gotten here yet! They realy
	know how to fill a back-order!

	I to have ordered some stuff from Performance Bicycle Shop.
	A jacket,pants, jersey, polypropylene neck protector and a
        polypropylene ear band. Two days ago the neck protector
	arrived. Everything else is on back order.

	The long and the short of this story is that if you order
	from the Performance Bike Shop don't expect to receive
	everything because my experience with these people is that
	they do not deliver in a timely manner. If you can wait and your
	not in a hurry there ok. My biggest gripe is that they should
	know whats in stock and whats not and tell you that when you
	place your order.

	Sooo buyer beware!!!!

    Sounds like we should send in a DEC sales rep and quote
    an inventory control system for them.

    And then we'd ship it to them with the CPU back ordered... :-)

    The order desk at the 800 number only took orders when I called
    once. I called the non 800 number and got the stuff I wanted set
    aside and ordered that way. This has worked at Pedal Pushers and
    Performance.

	A similar thing happened when I ordered the Performance Rollers.
	I quickly ordered them as soon as the catalog came out that
	announced them, figuring that a quick response would avoid a
	back order. Well...I got a quick response from _them_ stating
	that the rollers were back ordered...for 6 weeks. About a week
	later, they arrived.

184.6Performance has two warehousesJETSAM::HANAUERMike...Bicycle~to~Ice~CreamFri Dec 12 1986 22:528
I had a similar experience with Performance.

The bo'ed item, as I recall, came from a west coast warehouse. Seems
like the two warehouses don't communicate too well.

Did therefore get the Pacer shoes, which I like, sooner than expected.
