143.0. "BMX Races - Where? When?" by JOKUR::BOICE (Jim @LJO1 Standards and Methods Control) Tue Sep 02 1986 13:15

Does anyone know where and when kid's BMX races are held in the
Boston area (western suburbs, preferably)? We gave our son a bike
for his birthday and he's itching to see what happens.

There is a place in Northborough on Rte #20, I think its called,
"Everymans' Bike shop", or something like that. They have a track
out back and there seems to be some action there most saturdays.
Try Worcester yellow pages for a bicycle shop with a name something
like this, then call for a schedule.

There's also a track in Hopkinton, I've ridden by it several times.
I don't know who runs it or what.

.1 Thanks for the Northboro lead. I'll check it out.

.2 I just heard about the Hopkinton track today. The Framingham
YMCA owns it, but only uses it for their summer camp program. I
spoke to a Kevin Quinn from the Y this morning. He said
anyone is welcome to ride there. It's on Clinton Street off
        of East Main street.

    Thanks, Jim

I know there is a lot of active BMX racing in the area. Several
people I have met at BRC in Newton, MA started out in BMX, and talked
    about those races.

I don't personally know the names of additional contacts, but I'm
sure they are there. Did you check the Friday "What's Happening"
    section in the Boston Globe?
