50.0. "The *new* DEC Bike Club" by ALIBUT::BLOOM (Eric Bloom) Wed Apr 23 1986 19:11

This note is to discuss restarting the official DEC Bike Club.
Reg and Gary have volunteered, or at least expressed an interest.
I can't put in much, if any time on it these days. I've become
too involved with other things. However, I'd like to help get a
new group started. First thing to do is get the interested people
together for a brainstorming/braindumping session. Past officers
(maybe we can even get Kathy to join us!) can share experiences,
and new people can add ideas. Then informally elect/select one
or two people to make the contacts in corporate activities, and
    get the ball rolling.

I believe the basic requirements for a DEC club are officers
(President, Vice-P, Treasurer, Secretary), and a budget. Regular
meetings, and a newsletter may also be required. And there is a
small amount of paperwork. In return for all this, DEC will chip
    in some money.

When to start. I suggest the first meeting on Tuesday May 6.
Sometime in the evening. Can be at a DEC location, or someones'
    home.

    Any interest ???

Since Gary and I are in Marlborough and Eric is in Hudson I
suggest either of those facilities unless/until enough others step
forward and swing us toward their facility. Do you have to reserve
conference rooms for after hours ? (to help the cleaners to work around
you). Anyone up for a little ride before hand, the clocks will have
gone (err, umm, ...forward ?) so we'll have some more light. Now if
Gary brings the tubes, and if whasis name brings his hubs, spokes and
    rims....

Sounds fine to me. There are several others here in HLO who
would be interested as well. Several of us in SEG/CAD (5 to
be exact) have been biking at lunch, so there is a good nuc-
	leus of members.

I'll be away at DECUS this week, so I'll leave it up to you guys
to pick a location. Can someone get in touch with Kathy and invite
    her?

    thanks

50.4Do it in HL02 !MENTOR::REGFri May 02 1986 19:5316

OK, I just got a nudge from Colin. Lets get this thing GOING !
I have DECIDED that the meeting will be at 6:00 on tuesday May 6th in
the Mt Washington Auditorium in HL02. Reason is that there are
5 CAD/CAM'ists in Charlie Crabb's group who want to volunteer lots
of themselves to the new revision of the club, and only 2 from MR :-),
the choice of conference room is because I don't know the names
of any others over there, (more :-)s )

Charlie, HELP ! Please make whatever "arrangements" are necessary
to keep us from being in the janitorial staff's way. If you can't
get this one please let us know where we should do it at that time,
    cafe, etc.
