I want to get my son a BMX bike for his birthday later this month. I know nothing about these things. Can anyone point me to a reputable shop that deals or specializes in these things? What brands are good? What brands to stay away from? He is not going to be doing any racing, but I'd like to buy quality at a reasonable price so it will last a few years. Thanks for any help. BMX bikes and "last a few years" is a contradiction of terms.
Although he may not (yet) be talking about getting into formal racing,
he will almost certainly try jumping, wheelies, skid-outs etc.,
all of which will tear a bike up regardless of its quality. I would
go for a cheapie or have him put most of the money in.
