24.0. "IHPVA at EXPO '86" by EUCLID::PAULHUS () Wed Feb 12 1986 15:10

If any of you bikefile readers are planning to visit EXPO this
summer, and you are there around August 26 to 29, do plan to attend
the various events of the IHPVA Speed Championship. My team could use
  some encouragement!
Current vehicle status: Shell - kevlar layup is complete. Final
surface finish in progress. Will cut into sections and cutout
windows next. After frame is reworked, will work on mounting and
	stiffening.
Frame - Second cut at rider position in progress. Will be
strengthening single tube section and getting drive train going
	soon.
Rider - not firm. #1 choice may have a conflict with the
 	Coors Classic.

#1 rider choice is Mike Rounds of Warwick, RI. I understand that
on a good day, he can sprint with Nelson Vails (sp?). Since the
Coors runs to Aug. 24, and the Worlds starts Aug. 27, I guess I'll
be out of luck getting an olympic class rider. I'm considering
short local riders now (if the rider has long shin bones, I'll
have to put knee clearance bumps in the top of the shell). Chris

Mikey and I go way, way back. Yes, he is almost a world class sprinter.
He rode the 7-Eleven Grand Prix Series last year and bumped heads with Les
Heisslech (sp?) among others. He's never beaten any of the top dogs, though.

A real neat guy who's very strong. Eddie B. wanted him to continue
with the track and thus took him off the road team. However, Mike wants to
ride the road more than track, or at least he did when I saw him last.
He's always given me crap for my hardshell helmet.

When you beat him in a sprint you've accomplished something.
