946.0. "ATM management" by NNTPD::"patrick.shee@msa.mts.dec.com" (Patrick Shee) Mon May 19 1997 15:38

HI,
We have a bid currently fighting against Cisco Lightstresm 1010. One
of the criterion customer looking at is the ATM switch Management, ATM link
fault notification and so forth.
my question is can we use the polycentre for netview to do ATM switch
management and fault management ? The current Clearvisn mgnt software has
limited functions.
And anybody has any info about the management software for Cisco ATM
switch like ATM Director and Cisco View ? how do we beat Cisco inthis area
(ATM management).

Thank in advance

I don't have NetView, but I suspect that ClearVisn offers more in the way of
ATM-switch-specific management than NetView does. Netview probably has trap
logging and may have topology maps. Try asking this question in the NetView
conference.

I don't know. To the best of my knowledge, we don't have a Cisco network and
management station set up in the lab for doing this kind of evaluation.
946.2Netview will drill down to the GS/ATM module that is part of clearVISN kitTWICK::PETTENGILLmulpFri May 23 1997 06:008
For that matter, clearVISN can be integrated with just about any net management
package.

We also have cisco router support as part of the clearVISN product set
(although I don't know anything about this, ie., I have no idea whether
we support the lightstream).

I'd find someone who knows about the clearVISN product family and strategy.
