    re: kermit

    d'oh! <sound of hand smacking forehead>

    I loaded the Linux C-Kermit kit from www.columbia.edu/kermit only to
    find that it is "only" a Kermit Server implementation!

    The code for the terminal emulator is (probably) there somewhere in (I
    guess) the ms-dos kit, so I'll have a poke around and try and build the
    kit next weekend. {sigh}

    Unless someone has a pointer to some really good terminal emulation
    programs around that do a good job with vt200 emualtion ;')

    Have you tried looking on the page:

    http://kwaziwai.cc.columbia.edu/kermit/ck60ubin.html

    It contains pointers to 2 prebuilt versions of C-Kermit 6.0 for Linux.

    Russ,

    yes, thanks - that was where I arrived after doing the pointing and
    clicking. :')

    After poking around a bit more, I found another that I didn't see
    before, so I'm pulling that. I might look around there and see if I can
    get, say, the ms-dog kit, and build the term emulation in that fromthe
    source ;')

    thanks,
