2544.0. "Mondeo Problems" by MUGGER::SHARP (If I had a hammer...) Fri Aug 30 1996 17:44

I've got a '94 Mondeo 2.0 GLX . I've got a couple of problems which perhaps someone can shed light on before I
trail back to the dealer. (It's covered by a Ford Direct warranty).

1.	When I go on or come off the power, there's a loud clonk that comes from somewhere under the bonnet. It
sounds a bit like drive-line shunt but is very loud. I just wondered if any other Mondeo driver has had this
problem and knows what it is. I can just hear the dealer saying "They all do that".

2.	The gap between the base of the tailgate and the rear bumper seems to be getting larger. I've looked at
other Mondeos of a similar age and they seem to suffer from this too. Newer cars don't. Has anyone had this
problem or had it rectified?

	Thanks,

	Bob

    Regarding the 'clonk', it maybe something simple like loose engine
    mounts!
    I don't have a Mondeo myself though, so it's just a wild guess.
    However, having said that, it's often something simple that causes the
    horrendous sounds!

    Did you ever get to the bottom of the 'clonk' noise when you accelerate
    or decelerate ? What was the fix ?
