| From what I understand, there're various rules regarding commercial vehicles
vs. company provided vehicles for private use, such as them having to be made
available to other employees most of the time, etc...

| My brother in law used to work for southern electric and his company
vehicle was a medium sized truck with a Simon Snorkel cradle on the
back! He had this all the time (it really annoyed his neighbours when
he parked it out front). I'll have to ask him if he was charged company
car tax on it!

| So are we saying that if you have a company van you will be taxed on
500 pounds a year regardless of business mileage ?

It certainly seems that way Royston and the point I was offering
was that it seems that the "van" ain't necessarily what you might
think.

Many years ago,I worked as a service engineer for Rank Xerox.We got
Astra Estates and paid tax on them,plus a fuel card also. There was
also the choice of a signwritten Astra Diesel van which avoided the
tax implications . Not many takers curiously enough...
