    If anyone's interested, I've got a JPEG of the front cover of the
    Healey book featuring my car. I can post a UUE of it here (but it's
    1398 blocks) or it can be picked up for a few days from PLAYER::

    FROGCOVR.JPG;1           998/999      27-FEB-1995 14:06:32.00

    Wasn't there talk of starting a repository for CARS_UK readers' cars?

    Cheers, Laurie.
2381.3PLAYER::BROWNLAn Internaut in CyberSpaceMon Feb 27 1995 17:535
    Well, the problem is that they're quite large, perhaps a dedicated
    conference on a node with some room is a better idea. Any offers?
    Anyone care to host CARS_UK_CARPIX? ;^)

    Cheers, Laurie.

    If anyone in Munich has a scanner, you can make that 3! :^)

    Don't forget Dave Burden has some piccies of his cars. I suspect the
    conference would grow quite fast once people realised it was there. I
    have another two pics of my car, for instance, and three more to scan
    in...

    Cheers, Laurie.
2381.7VANGA::KERRELLDECUS Partners Exhibition 15-18 MayTue Feb 28 1995 11:255
You can copy them to VANGA::VANGA$ARCHIVE:[CARPIX]

I've put Laurie's .JPG there already.

Dave.
2381.8Well done, Dave.UNTADI::SAXBYVorsprung Durch MahlzeitTue Feb 28 1995 11:3213

    Well done, Dave.

    Perhaps a caution about copyrighted material is in order, though?

    I presume the fact that the cover photo of the Frogeye features his car
    means Laurie doesn't have a copyright problem, but scanning in other
    photos from books (and putting them on the net) may be problematic.

    If I can find a way, I'll make an image of the Marcos available.

    Mark

2381.9PLAYER::BROWNLAn Internaut in CyberSpaceTue Feb 28 1995 12:289
    Shall we have a new topic for the car pictures then? Maybe Dave should
    start it with a pointer to the location. We can then post notes
    describing and naming the pictures we put in there. It would be great
    for people to put their action shots in there too! For instance, I have
    a photo of the kart track where Scoobydoo met Michael Schumaker.

    Then I'll ask the moderators to delete this rathole!

    Cheers, Laurie.

    POWER.MPG

    This is an MPEG2 file I made of the Mini Action Day at Castle Combe
    last year. The 50 frames were supplied to me by a friend on the mini
    mailing list, and I composed them into an MPEG.

    The quality leaves a lot to be desired, but it really was only an
    exercise to see what I could do with this MPEG creator. Anyone wants to
    supply me with some decent quality frames in PPM raw format, I'll make
    another :-)

    It shows a Mini Pickup of some outrageous description tearing along the
    inside of a 1.3i Cooper.

    Cheers,
    Dan

    I've got three pictures in the archive:

    FROGCOVR.JPG;1           998/999      27-FEB-1995 14:06:32.00

    This is the front cover of the late Geoffrey Healey's book "More
    Healeys", and features my car, but with the number plate which was on
    the first prototype car shown to the late Donald Healey in the early
    '80s.

    GH_FROG1.JPG;1           569/570      28-FEB-1995 09:21:47.00
    GH_FROG2.JPG;1           520/522      28-FEB-1995 09:22:06.00

    Both of these are views of the car with the late Geoffrey Healey
    standing next to it. He has signed the photos by way of thanks for the
    loan of the car for the pictures for the book. It's got the correct
    number plate in these! Note that the hood (which is up unfortunately)
    is the wrong one, and doesn't fit properly...

    Cheers, Laurie.

    I'm not well up on these things, but XV reads .GIF's fine but

    How can you make XV read other formats?

    We could do with an INDEX.TXT file in VANGA::VANGA$ARCHIVE:[CARPIX], to
    save people i) downloading stuff without knowing what it is and ii)
    sifting through this topic to discover all the files (presuming,
    ofcourse, that over the years this topic will become thousands of
    entries big :-)).

Well, I guess the Isetta sort of bridged the gap between car and motorcycle so I
don't see a problem with it.

    I found a host of pictures of British classic cars on the Web:

    Also, try http://www.team.net/sol/ It's a brilliant starting point for
    those who like British classic cars.
