2363.0. "Leaseplan" by FAILTE::THOMSONS (Stuart Thomson) Tue Jan 17 1995 14:18

My car at present is a HERTZ lease with the owner being AXUS UK , but when my
new tax disc arrived it was from Leaseplan but inside a HERTZ folder so is
there a connection between HERTZ and Leaseplan ????

This has been mentioned before but I can't find the note (I think
    it was Huw Williams).

It maybe that Leaseplan now administer the fleet.

I don't understand the connection with AXUS UK.

I got a phone call from Leaseplan to ask why I did not choose another
Vauxhall as my recent company car.

They asked if I knew Vauxhall was the preferred vendor, and that now
    Saab was as well.

Anyone else had such a call?

    Greg

As I understand it Saab has always been a 'preferred' car as it is part
of GM. However, the quotes for Saab were very expensive.

I don't understand why they should ask such a stupid question.
Presumably the reason you didn't choose a Vauxhall was that you
    preferred something else !

Also, why isn't Saab on the PCL if its a preferred car ?

Well it is (sort of). From VTX:

| On the LPDIRECT system you will now also find the Saab models with
| competitive driver prices because they are now also a preferred supplier
| for Digital.

All the SAAB prices in LPDIRECT have changed in the last two
weeks. There is just one quote each for the 900 and 9000, and 7
quotes for something called the TALLA.

Maybe we will get skodas on the PCL next, and we will be wishing for
    VAUXHALLS :-)

It seems that a few folks with non-vauxhalls are getting these calls
as one of the guys here was just telling me he had this call. He has a
    Fiat.

I don't think they are stupid questions Roy, I'm supposing they are
finding out why so may people are not getting Vauxhalls!

Probably the same reason that Vauxhalls (& Ford for thet matter) are
constantly near the botton of the Top Gear / "Some US company" customer
    satisfaction pole.

    Re .9

Greg, I guess my comment was a little severe. I'm all for market
research but its like going into a sweet shop with hundreds of choccies
to choose from and the shop keeper asking why you haven't bought a mars
    bar.

The 'preferred' list is not as competitive as it should be in my
opinion. Only the Vectra range offers really good deals but the list
price for these models is on par with 3 Series BMW's and thats a pretty
    big tax hit.

I guess Leaseplan's problem is they hadn't bargained on us getting
so many non-GM cars as it impacts the volume order they agree with
Vauxhall to get the discounted price on individual model ranges.

re : not renewing with Vauxhalls

I hope they ask me too. List price of a BMW (good point Royston!)
desirability and drive-ability of a shopping trolley.

'Course, if they really wanted to know what people thought about
Leaseplan and the car scheme, they'd also ask a few people who have
chosen to cut Leaseplan out of the loop ie opt out of the scheme.

Not really. Once it had got over its warm start stutter, it was superb
!! It was fast, with little turbo lag. It stopped well and handled
nicely, stereo was ok and ride comfort was good. The only things that
turned out to be junk were Leaseplan and Fiat ( who definately havent
    got a clue !! )

How can you praise the car and at the same time slag Fiat ? after all
they built it ! If it required things doing to it outside of the
normal servicing and the people who built it couldn't sort it out then
    it's junk....

Just to let you know I've set .15 hidden whilst there is discussion
with the mods. The author have been mailed and asked to resubmit a
less contentious reply as it conflicts with the spirit
    of the guidelines in 1.70

If you want to know why mail me.

I have deleted note 2363.15 so as not to cause offence. It was not my

    telling the saga !!

Rick, could you please reenter your 'saga' with the 'offending' bit
removed. Its a story worth sharing.

    Thanks
