    Yes OK, since I seem to have gotten beaten up for suggesting that a
    number of high performance 3 litre engines can obtain 250 hp which is
    what the A610 can achieve only with the aid of a turbo...

    Make CC HP hp/lit 3 Litre equiv.

    Honda NSX	2977	274	92	276

    Not to mention the M3...

    However, I quite like the way the A610 looks.

    But ONLY the NSX is 3 litre, non-turbo and makes the criteria...

    Sorry,

    Looking back at the list I see you've said a 164 Q4 (I don't know what
    that is and I read it as the 155 Q4 which has the turbo Integrale
    engine). The M3 isn't in the list (although you did mention it, but I
    was only referring to the list).

1946.5I know of a 155 Q4 (and it's a turbo)DUBSWS::KANE_BFThe clot, thickens....Mon Nov 09 1992 14:5110

Thank you Mark for bringing reality to this "discussion" :-)

    To my knowledge there's no such thing as a 164 Q4 - maybe you
    mean a 164 Quadrifoglio (Green Cloverleaf), that produces 230 not
    260 bhp - or do you know different - if so post the details...

    I guess the 'Q4' Alfa 164 is [intended to mean ?] the 24-valve version ?

    164 should probably read 155 Q4. But again 260bhp without turbo ?

    I'me talking about the 1.7 Litre HPC (Kent engine) Carb that had

    The Q4 is the top of the line *164*. The 24 valve version of the 3
    litre 6. The Q4 is one model up from the (230hp) cloverleaf.

    Satisfied ?

    I thought the HPC nomenclature was only used Vauxhall engined
    Caterhams, but I'm no expert on Dinky cars! :^)

    Still, even if the 1.7 litre Caterham DOES give 170 BHP, it doesn't
    have a 3 litre engine OR produce 250 BHP!

    The full name of the Q4 is the Super Cloverleaf Q4 I think. I'll look
    up full details when I find the mag....

    Q4 (if the 155 is anything to go by) means "4 wheel drive" - and I
    don't think they make a 4wd 164. The "Super" (210bhp) is the top of the
    range, but has less power than the "Cloverleaf" (230bhp) - both are 24
    valve, and neither use the "Q4" in their title.

    The 155 Q4 was featured in last nights 'Top Gear'. Very tasty motor.

1946.19maybe, maybe notWEOPON::LP12Sat Nov 14 1992 07:335
    The 164 Q4 does have 4wd. Reading the magazine article, the wording is
    not clear whether the engine in the Q4 has a turbo - given the context
    I had assumed additional tweaks for the quad cam Cloverleaf V6.

    It could be the same unit as in the 155.
1946.20there will indeed be a 260bhp 164ZPOVC::GGLOHSingaporeSun Nov 15 1992 16:019
    Quoting straight from AUTOCAR & MOTOR (23 Sep 1992):

    "...The new Alfa 164 Super range will be powered by 24-valve quad-cam
    versions of the three-litre V6 engine, boosting power output of the
    Lusso from 192 to 210 bhp and the Cloverleaf from 200 to 230bhp...The
    Super range is due to go on sale in the UK in summer 1993 and, shortly
    after, it will be joined by a new flagship. The 164 Super Cloverleaf
    Q4 will be powered by a 260 bhp version of the V6 with power driven via
    a six-speed gearbox through all four wheels..."

    re.20
    164 Q4...
    Yup, I agree. I've just read this months CAR, and it says the same -
    should be good when it arrives.

    re.the 155 Q4
    It's got the same mechanicals (engine, gearbox, 4wd system) as the
    Integrale, but not the same chassis (unfortuneately) - that it gets from
    the Tipo. The interior is also a bit Tipoish, or should that be cheapoish?
    - anyway, it's still quite nice (if a bit ugly, but then I like ugly
    cars) and you certainly wont see many off them around.
