1911.0. "Ford Fiesta recall" by WARNUT::TUMSHI::NISBETD (DELETE ENTRY ALLWAYS_TYPE_SH0W_N0TE_BEFORE_HITTING_KP7_0R_SELECT) Wed Oct 07 1992 20:35

    Has anyone else had a recall notice on their Ford Fiesta? Something
    about air vents not working properly. I can't really be bothered taking
    it in, but I suppose I don't want to get CO poisining. Might explain my
    work recently ...

1911.1What kind of FLAPS...???AYOV11::ATODMANThu Oct 08 1992 12:4014

    Yes,

    I received a letter from Ford.

    It is for the replacement of the Rear Ventilation Flaps.

    Does anyone know where they are situated and what they are required for..?

    The garage that I usually take my car to has used all the parts that
    are required to complete this job due to these letters being issued by
    Ford. I need to wait until next week before they can take my car.

    The 'rear ventilation flaps' threw me as well. I wasn't aware that the
    fiesta had any.

Not taking your car in when you have a recall notice from Ford is asking for
trouble IMHO

Re .2
Not sure if it is the same thing but I remember that a Metro I had some years
ago had some cutouts in the boot internal rear panel somewhere near the rear
lights. There was a piece of rubber which covered this cutout allowing
air to flow through the car and out through the cutout, but prevented air from
the rear of the car (near the exhaust) entering the car. It was only of any
use if the car was not moving or if the tail wind was blowing faster than the
car was travelling!

    I guess the recall notice may never filter down to lease car drivers.

    I'll ask about my RS next time its in for service.

1911.8Recall notices *will* get to you....HEWIE::RUSSELLIf I cheered up, I'd still be depressedFri Oct 09 1992 13:4716
When the recent BX recall notice went out, the route was

- from the manufacturer to the DVLC (who privide the owner names + adresses)

- from DVLC to the registered owner (lease co.)

- from the lease co, the fleet

- from fleet to driver via internal mail.

So you should get it, eventually.

You usually find these notices are not all shipped at the same time, to
save overloading the garages and parts networks...

Peter.

    I'm concerned about this part -

    - from fleet to driver via internal mail.
