Does anyone know what the componants of the coolant level sensor are ?

The one on my Range Rover has stopped working !!! I've taken it apart
and it appears to work as follows:

	- a float containing a magnet
	- a "switch" which is activated when the magnet gets near it
	- another component in series with the sensing circuit

Open circuit indicates level too low, closed circuit when level is OK.

The reason I say "another" componant is that it is this componant which
has failed, and it is no longer is a fit state to identify what it is
exactly. It looks like a small resistor (physically small, rather than
just a low resistance).

The reason for the failure appears to be that water has come into contact
with this componant and caused it to rust until one of the contacts has
rusted right through and no longer makes the circuit. I get the impression
that just bypassing this componant would get things working again, but it
must have been there for a reason.

Any ideas ?
