1794.0. "Second hand Cars on Lease Scheme ?" by WARNUT::THOMASA (Wow I,ve got a colour ....) Fri Jun 12 1992 13:12

Hi all,

Does anyone know if you can get our fleet
department to quote on a second hand car, and then lease
that via the usual car scheme ?

e.g.

My "What Car" magazine says that a 3 year old
BMW 535i SE Auto has a trade value of 13,000 pounds

Could I ask fleet to see if a car like this was
just coming off a 36 month lease somewhere and ask them
to re-quote it for me based on its second hand value ??

Would you expect the quote to be relatively
expensive ,maybee because a leasing company would
hike up the maintenance costs.

Anyone have any thoughts or will I have to wait
till I take over Uncle Kens job before I can get my hands
on a bib BM (or whatever)

	thanks

	Andy T.

You could always ring car fleet and ask them, but I doubt that that'll
be possible. Anyway, just think of the tax you'll have to pay on
3.5 litres!

1794.2A pointer to more on the subjectPLAYER::WINPENNYFri Jun 12 1992 14:0412

If you'd bothered to have looked through the relevant topic on lease
quotes you would have seen that this subject has been discussed very
    recently. Notes 1538.206 onwards.

This would have saved you asking the question, saved others spending
time replying to the question and saved diskspace (however little).
And also saved me from getting a touch un-mellow over somebody who
appears not to be able to search a conference :-).

new to notes and as don't yet know all the facilities available. So why

To be fair to the author of .0 there is a lot to wade through on lease
cars in this conference. Perhaps a reply to an existing note on
the subject would of been preferrable though.

I am having a good day. This is me being as polite as I'm ever going to
    get :-) <-----

Or hadn't you noticed the little bit of sarcasm at the end.

Re: .0

Not a chance. Fleet only allow new cars. You can't even specify which garage
you want to supply the car.

By the time you've paid the supplement, and then the tax on the
benefit, I'm sure a lot of you would be better off buying a 1 year old
    car yourselves, anyway.

Of course if your car is over 4 years old, the benefit in kind is
    halved.

Hi,

If it weren't for the fact that the insurance
group on a 730iSE is group 9 (!) I'd consider opting
out of the scheme and lease a 3/4 year old car that
way.
