1583.0. "Dealer or not?" by IOSG::HUNTD (up up and away) Tue Oct 29 1991 18:26

I need to get my Volvo serviced.
Why should I go to the dealer when I could go to Lucas?

    Is there any advantage?

Is your car a new car (age less than the length of the warranty)?

Has your car got a full, dealer service history?

If the first, NOT taking it to the dealer could void your warranty.

If the second, ending that will almost certainly reduce the resale
    value.

If neither are true, you can probably find someone providing better
quality servicing without going to the dealer OR Lucas.

No it isn't new. It is a 1986 340, but it has previously always
been serviced by Volvo. The mileage is 29,000 and those were reasons
why I bought it - because it was not used a lot and had been cared for.

But am I going to an agent because they ARE better or because
someone_in_the_future_who_might_buy_my_car would think it was better?

Probably the latter to be honest.
