1394.0. "Need Help with Renault Alliance (R11) Parts in UK" by GWYNED::BURTON () Tue Mar 19 1991 16:31

I just received a letter from a friend in England and he requested that I help
him find some parts for his 1985 Renault Alliance convertible (drop-head). He
claims to have one of the few in England. Is it true that they did not import
many of these from the US? Are they really that much different from the R11's
in Europe and the UK? My friend has requested my help to find a right rear lamp
cluster with black edging, a digital clock, and a handbook. Does anyone know
a source for these items in the UK? Does anyone know what he means by
a "handbook"? Is it what we call an "owner's manual" in the US? That's the
book that tells you what all the switches are, how to maintain the car, and how
to set the radio. Or could he mean a "shop manual" which tells a mechanic how
to repair the car?

Many thanks,
Jim

There was never a convertible R11 in the UK.

The handbook is another name for the Owner's manual. The clock I would
imagine is the same in the R11, but the rear light cluster may well be
different. As far as I know R11s sold here were made in France.

The Alliance superficially looks like an R11, but that's where the similarity
ends. I suggest you go to the local Renault dealer and get a workshop manual
for him from there.
