845.0. "Help! Sparkrite alarm." by AYOV27::OAVAX_MB () Fri Nov 10 1989 11:45

    I have a 120 alarm which when I bought the car did not work.
    A couple of months ago it went off and I disconnected a fuse
    which appeared to have disarmed it.

    Yesterday it went off (no alarm or flashing lights now - but it
    has disabled the ignition. I thought it might time out but it's
    still disabled.

    I'm going to call out a garage to have a look at it but can anyone
    tell me how it should be disarmed. When I say the alarm did not
    work - the led never lit up and the key (which I don't have to hand)
    did not appear to do anything.

    Thanks,
    Marc Bowden,
    Ayr x4180.
    Stuck in the car park :-).

845.4This alarm drives me NUTS !!CHEFS::MADGEJFri Feb 23 1990 15:1326
    Hello,

    I have just purchased a car with one of the AT120 car alarms already
    fitted.... I have had the car two months now and have had so many
    problems with the alarm.....The problem at the moment is that the
    thing has now decided to stop working !! So I am desperately trying
    to find someone who knows lots about them.. That can tell me how to
    fix the damned thing !!

    I have had the fuses checked and one had blown which has now been
    replaced but still no joy... I have had the battery checked in the
    blipper and have been told that's O.K..

    The only thing left that I can think of is the Blipper itself is
    up the shoot !!

    Does anybody have any other ideas ? As this alarm has been been
    a right pain since I've had it..... I don't need an alarm clock
    anymore - the car gets me up at 3,5,8-30 every morning...

    I must admit though I have never thought of closing the air vents
    So I will try that once It's fixed... (I hope)...

    Thanks for any help..

    Jonathan
845.5It's probably the voltage drop sensing circuits - that's what mine was!SED750::KORMANtgif!!Thu Mar 01 1990 13:5312
I had a similar problem - My AT120 was fine for over a year and then began to
go off for no apparent reason. Itracked it down to the voltage sensing circuit
I disabled the voltage drop triggering and linked the trigger terminal to the
dorr switches and the problem went away. You could confirm that it's not the
untrasonics by disconnecting them and seeing if you still get the false alarms.

I didn't bother to try to track the fault down, as I has no internal schematic,
but my guess would be an electrolytic capacitor begining to short due to the
extreme environmental conditions found under a car bonnet!
