434.12 | What about the next course? | CRATE::WHITTINGTON | Snarling on both tiny cylinders | Wed Jan 03 1990 15:08 | 15 |
| Since my 1-day "skillful driving" course, I am determined to become a
better driver. I feel I am already improving, just from that one day.
But it is a big eye-opener and I know I have a long way to go.
I would like to pass an advanced driving test and I like the idea of
graded passes that RoSPA have.
So, here I am willing to get stuck in. Only challenge is - our family
life is hectic at present (wife is studying full-time, day and night)
which means I would rather get stuck in around the summer time.
My main 2 questions are - Is there a course planned for later in the
year? Are the sessions always on Wednesdays (not a good day for our
committments). If nobody has the answer, who should I contact? Are the
secretaries names/numbers the same as earlier in this note?

| You could always try BSM. I did my advanced training for IAM with them very
successfully. Need to pick your instructor with care though .....

434.14 | RoSPA in Reading | MARVIN::RUSLING | MicroServer Phase V Session Control | Wed Jan 03 1990 19:11 | 14 |
| RoSPA in Reading run one course a year starting in a few days. If you want
to enrol, then just go along. The dates are given a couple of notes back.
Last year they mostly stuck to the dates given, I think we ended up with one
lesson on a Tuesday. IAM don't have the lectures (which, basically, take you
through the police driving manual), so they may be more convenient for your
busy lifestyle. Sounds like mine, too many hobbies and too little time. I
believe that the tests are roughly the same, however, the grading and test
report is much more comprehensive with RoSPA.
I would recommend either course, driving well is does not neccessarily mean
slowly or boringly. It means being more aware of your surroundings and more
in control of your car...

434.15 | Revised IAM manual | SHAPES::LOUGHLINI | Colonel Stack | Thu Jan 04 1990 15:20 | 10 |
| I note in this month's Milestones (IAM magazine) that IAM have
produced an updated Advanced Driving Manual costing 6,50 pounds.
Has anyone had a chance to review it yet in terms of new/revised
information compared to the previous revision.
Is it worth 6,50 pounds?

434.17 | HPC course and club | MARVIN::RUSLING | MicroServer Phase V Session Control | Fri Jan 19 1990 13:49 | 6 |
| See Bill Betts for information about this one - he's done the course. Judging
by his driving and other members of the HPC club (you can only join after you've
done the course) - it's a very good course. The course is advertised in the
motoring press.
