364.0. "Left hand drive - Right hand drive conversions" by UNTADH::ROBERTS (Matthew Hopkins was misunderstood!) Mon Oct 24 1988 12:15

I decided to start this topic to discuss LHD to RHD conversions
    (or even vice-versa).

It's coming up to time for me to sell my current set of wheels,
and I'm interested in several models.

    	BMW 325iX
    	VW Golf syncro
    	ditto GTI 16v

Unfortunately the first two models (the 4wd ones), though order-able,
are not made in RHD versions.

So what do people know about conversions?? I seem to remember a
firm advertising in Auto Trader with RHD 325iX-s for sale (or we
convert yours) but like an idiot I lost the ad.

I don't know if it's possible to convert a Golf syncro.

Advice, and hopefully addresses of specialist conversion firms
    gratefully received.

I'd love a 4WD next time! (And one that doesn't fall over when you
take a corner a bit too fast!)

    NR

    P.S. Anyone wanna buy a 1988 325i 4 door?? Yeah, I know, not from
    me ;^)

364.13ESPACE LHD to RHD conversion information neededFNYMV7::MERLEHANThu Apr 05 1990 20:0129

I would like to convert my Renault Espace DX from LHD to RHD.

I asked at local garages (in France) and they quoted approx. 3,000 pounds

and were basically not interested. They implied it could not be done

and why not sell the LHD car and buy a RHD model from them. I need the

conversion done that does not void the extended 3 year warranty.

Any experiences on the subject greatly appreciated...

Phone numbers of main Renault Garages that may do the conversion in

England or Ireland would help, or any specialist conversion shops.

    Regards

    Colm,

try Radbourne Racing in Wimbledon, Sth London. (sniggers from the
    R5GTT mob)

They probably won't do the job themselves but they may well know
how and where it can be done, due to their work in converting Turbo
2's to RHD (now thats what *I* call a Renault 5 turbo)

    Good luck,
    Tony
