169.0. "Best insurance?" by AYOU17::NAYLOR (Purring on all 12 cylinders) Mon May 23 1988 19:00

Just in case anyone's looking, I can thoroughly recommend the company
noted below for all classic or special car insurance needs. They
insure my E-type for about half what my Volvo 240 costs, the only
stipulation being limited mileage but even that can be negotiated
to suit individual needs. AND ... when I unfortunately had to make
a claim last year the service could not have been better (and I
still have my NCD - they policy is one of those that is a "net
    premium"!!!).

169.5Cheap Car Insurance for UK Car Owners in Europe.EVTSG8::SALLYSally with an MTue Aug 17 1993 16:3531
Hi,

If you have a UK license plate, want a good insurance
with one year green card, and don't want to break your
bank account, READ ON.

I've found a VERY nice, friendly and CHEAP insurance.

Endsleigh Insurance
Loughborough University,
Ashby Road,
Loughborough,
LE11 3TT.

Tel 0509 262423 and ask for Wendy.

Mention that Sally who had a full year green card has
recommended you and she'll know which insurance quote
will work out the cheapest.

For a fully comp, full year green card I had less than
half price quote compared with GRE.

I have already recommended them to four other people who
have now taken up insurance with them.

Have fun motoring.
Sally.

Oh, I forgot to mention the catch. If you get a good
bargain you owe me a drink. :-)

Dont want to put a damper on Endsleigh, but I've dealt with them before...

Great until you want to make a claim.

Is it a perfromance car or Hot Hatch.

    re: .1

Surely your claim is dealt with by the actual insurer (e.g. General
Accident or Lloyds) and not Endsleigh who is, after all, really only
    the broker ?

Mike. (currently with Eagle Star thru Endsleigh)

169.10I still vote for them.EVTSG8::SALLYSally with an MTue Aug 17 1993 18:1911
Hi again,

I've been with them for 3 years with no problems.
I had a little claim that was settled within a week! The
fastest I've ever seen!!

I've had a Calibra 16V and now Toyota Carlos Saintz. so,
they both fall under lets-get-as-much-as-possible-from-
the-owner range.

Sally.

There is nothing wrong with Endsleigh themselves.

An earlier reply hit the nail on the head. They are brokers for other
companies, which invariably tend to be be Lloyds affiliated....

They pay up on a claim once ever blue moon !! Just look at the current
state of Lloyds and you'll get the idea.
169.12Direct Line impressed usNEWOA::CROME_AThu Aug 19 1993 14:3016
My wife has a G reg 1300 Astra - nothing exciting, the insurance renwal
came through just after we were married for 335 pounds fully comp with me as a
named driver - pretty good we thought, but it was still in her maiden name.
She rang to change her details, they made her hold for a moment and came back
with a new premium of 270 - not bad we thought, she then mention I work for
DIGITAL, she was put on hold again, they came back with yet another quote -

				 250 quid !!!!

We were well chuffed ! I had always told her she'd be better off
marrying me !

I think the info is on VTX - Direct Line give DEC
employees and families something like 7.5% discount.
There's a different number you ring which is in VTX
somewhere.

Touchline will, as a matter of policy, quote so much less than
Directline that they work out cheaper, even after taking discounts into account!

				Malcolm.

PS. They do have an 0800- number, but I don't have it to hand. It is in the
Conference somewhere from when I put in all the quotes I had for my Xantia.
