893.0. "Plans, Board Games" by JSF1::HASS (Barry Hass MLO3-3/U39 223-1468) Mon Oct 26 1992 16:33

I would like to make my kids a knock-hockey game. I could probably wing it from
memory, but not having seen one in, oh... never mind, lots of years, I wouldn't
mind having some plans or measurements to work with. Anyone know where I could
find this information? Also, what kind of wood would you recommend using?

The November/December 1991 issue of The Family Handyman had plans for
making a "marble hockey" game; similar in concept to knock-hockey, but with
a marble instead of a puck and flippers instead of the stick. I can send you
a copy of that article if you want - it may give you some helpful ideas.
Just send me mail.

As for materials, TFH used tileboard over plywood for the playing surface, with
an oak frame. Most knock-hockey games I saw used something like Masonite for
the playing surface, but I think I like the tileboard idea better. They say
you can also use tempered hardboard (painted) or plastic laminate. (One
major difference between the marble hockey game and a knock-hockey game is
that the former has the playing surface elevated in the middle so that the
marble will roll towards one of the ends; you wouldn't need this for
knock-hockey.
