| Name : Mark "Pasco" Pascarelli
Location: Mr1-3 / E74 Marlboro
Age : 31
Average : running around 117 for 18 holes
Best : 111......49 for 9
Home : none
clubs : Dunlap Max 357
Balls : Maxfli
This has changed since my entry in the "OLD" registry. I used to play with
a hodgepodge of clubs and had no real ball preference. Now I stick with Maxfli's
except on those days when I seem to be finding the woods a lot. Then If I lose
a few balls I switch to the brand I am finding on those "jungle safari's".....
Memorable Moments : Watching moose cross coarse at Norway C.C. in Maine.

| Name:- Paul McSkeane Nickname:- POL.
Based in London @HHL
Age:- 25
Handicap:- 21
Best Round:- 84
Home Course:- either Ruislip or Harefield
Most Memorable Moment:- Hitting a four iron to the green 185 yds away,
losing the ball in-flight due to the sun and discovering when I reached
the green that I'd holed it for my first ever eagle.
Type of Ball:- either Prostaffs or Titleist
Type of club:- Gene should know this 'coz he's building my new set
Hogan Edge Clones with stiff dynamic gold shafts, 1/2 cord grips
Goals:- I would like to get close to a single figure handicap by the
end of the year.
Additional Information:- I've been playing for 13 yrs now and could
play off 14 at the age of 15. Unfortunately going to University and
moving to England meant giving it up for 5 yrs. Now I'm back into
the swing of things with a vengence. When I used to live in Scotland
I was within an hours drive of such courses as St Andrews, Gleneagles
Royal Troon, Prestwick, Ayr, Brassie and Muirfield. Jealous eh?

Most memerable moment was almost....The third hole Stow South I
skulled a nine iron which flew out of my hands and stayed up

dribbled down the hill rolled up to the cup then rolled off
the right edge about 2-3 inches. Close but no bananas.

without using woods, I decided it's time to play the game right.

practiced, practiced. Now I just have to do the same thing with
the other woods. I also look forward to being on a winning team

Well it used to be play bogey golf, play as many Golf Digest

progress on another. I guess my current goals are:
- Consistently shoot in low 80's
- Break 80 at least once in my life
- Take home some hardware in this year's golf league
or at least to progress further in the playoffs than last
year. (I'm sure Alan's over sight in mentioning it was
purely unintentional. Right partner?)
- Play golf in Scotland
- Continue to make inroads on my top 100 list.
- Retire early to a warm sunny climate & play golf.

HOME COURSE: Last year it was Heritage, this year it'll be something

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT: There's always that one shot or hole per round
that brings you back for more but I don't have
any glorious moments to report. Of course,
there was that -2 yard drive I hit at Myrtle
Beach last year. (Trying to "kill" my tee shot
on a par four I put so much top spin on the ball
that it hit the ground about a foot in front of
the tee and checked back two yards. No problem,
I stepped back a little with the same club (1
wood) and smacked my second shot about 220 down
the middle. Reached the green with the next
shot but missed a 20 footer for par.)

GOALS: Aside from getting used to the new clubs I plan to buy I'd like
to score in the 80's consistently. Been playing golf since '74
but due to heavy commitment to softball I just got back to a
serious golf effort last season. Would like to get involved in

| Well, I guess it's time to re-check in......
Keith Niskala in lovely MKO1 by the pond.
I'm 34 years young ;^) and have been in the DEC Amherst league
for the last 5 years.
I play to a 9 handicap for 9 holes, so by using my keen power
of multiplication I'd say I'm about an 18 for 18 holes.
I've only had one eagle in my lifetime, at Trull Brook, the 12th
hole. A par 5, I drained about a 40 footer for the eagle. My closest
to an ace was on number 7 at Amherst when I hit a 3 iron to about
18 inches short of the hole.
My best 18 hole score is 87 at Merrimack GC in Methuen and I've
got only one other sub 90 score, an 89 at the CC of NH in Sutton,
NH.
Just last week I returned from Myrtle Beach and would have broken
90 on the DIFFICULT Jack Nicklaus design LongBay club had it not
been for a 9 on the 18th hole. I shot 93! Stupid decisions cost
me, should have avoided the water at all costs.
Looking forward to playing at Passaconaway club this year with
the league moving over to there.

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT - Scored an eagle 3 on the par 5 18th at
Juniper last year. Hit a Driver, 8 iron
to within 15-20 feet. The putt was
sidehill with a 6-8 inch left to right
break. It just bearly dropped in.
Others include playing golf in Hawaii.

TYPE OF CLUBS YOU PLAY - Spaulding Cannons; have had for about 4-5

GOALS Minimize three putts, not to shoot a round over 95, (I

shoot into the high ninety's and maybe even over 100),
AND this year I want to break 80.

BEST ROUND: 101 at Dunedn CC in Florida in January, 47 for 9 one
day when I wasn't paying attention to my game.
HOME COURSE: Poquoy Brook in Lakeville (at the end of my street) but
probably played more often at Easton CC last year.
MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT: Probably the day I decided to take up the game.
I was invited to play "best ball" with some friends who were
experienced golfers. I was nervous about playing for the first
time and making a fool of myself. Most of the others in our
foursome were having a bad day, but I was having
a very lucky one. Our team came in 2nd out of four and my
team mates kept asking "are you sure you haven't played
before?". They said that I saved them. Like I said, I had a
lucky day. That game hooked me.
TYPE OF BALL(s) YOU PLAY: Titleist DT (90) most of the time.
TYPE OF CLUBS YOU PLAY: Custom Tour Model II (2-pw) and Persimmon
1-3-5 woods. Swing weight C-3 with regular
True Temper Shafts. Also had a TM laminated
driver w/flat lie reconditioned for this year.
GOALS: For my second season at the game my goals are to break 100,
take some lessons, and be able to keep my concentration for
an entire 18.
ANY OTHER INFO YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD...
Advise: When you play golf with your wife, just because she
accepts everyone else's opinion about her game as constructive
criticism, don't assume she thinks yours is.
Having an entire family who is new to the game (wife also just
started and kids (count um 3 went to a week long golf camp last
year)), this conference has helped me understand about the game,
equipment and that golfers are never short winded when it comes
to talking about the game. Thanks to the moderator and the
participants for all the help.

Name: Dave Straub
Work: PKO2 (Maynard)
Age: 30
First Played: summer of '89 (sorry... I was one of those slow players
at Sandy Burr last year... I've since learned to simply pick up when
I've taken more than my fair share of strokes ;-))
Average score: around 110
Best Round: 100 at Grandview, Leominster, MA, June 10, 1990
(I won't count the 97 at Twin Springs)
Home Course: Hmmm... the 'most played' course would have to be
Twin Springs in Bolton, MA.
MMM: My first (and only) birdie at TS par 4 #4. Second shot, 9-iron,
stopped about 2 feet from the pin.
Type of balls: Not that fussy yet. I guess anything durable: any
Spalding or Wilson.
Type of clubs: MacGregor Jack Nicholas signature 3-PW irons and 1,3,5
woods. 2-iron and SW from Austaads bargain bag.
Goals: Hit more fairways. Reduce putt average to 2 per hole. This is
easier than worrying about my score.

Best Round: 78 Navy Marine, Honolulu HI.
Home Course: I guess you can say Sunningdale CC in Somersworth NH
(my father runs the restaurant there). Here in Holland
I play at Ouwe Maas in Rhoon (just outside of Rotterdam)
when I get a chance.
M.M.M. Hole In One on the 6th at Cochecho CC in Dover NH.
I was playing alone trying to catch the guys in front
of me.They were waiting on the 7th tee when I punched
my 8 from the 6th. They started yelling that it went
in the hole but I didn't believe them till I saw it
for myself. BTW I was 17 at the time. What a great felling
that was.
Type ball: Titlist DT,Top Flite.
Type Club: Spaulding
Goals: To start playing more often and get my son started,
he is now 5 and asks me all the time if we can go hit
some balls. My problem is that it is pretty expensive
to play here and there aren't really any fields big
enough to just hit away.
Extra Info: If by chance anybody passes thru Dover NH, stop in at
Sunningdale CC and give my father (Peter) the greetings
from me and I'm sure you will be treated right.

| Hi Golf Noters -
I'm brand new to this notes file, and quasi-brand new to golf ...
I played for about six or seven years, but hadn't played for 10 until a
few weeks ago. I had forgotten how addictive golf is, and now I'm
playing (and expect to continue playing) 2-3 times a week for the rest
of the season...
NAME: (and home stats)
Brian D. Markey

WHERE I WORK:
Workstations Engineering
MLO5-2/G1 ("The Mill")
Maynard, MA
DTN: 223 2384
WSDEV::MARKEY
WHERE I PLAY:
Pakachoag, Auburn MA
Clearview, Millbury MA
Green Hill, Worcester MA
I also recently played Willowdale CC in Scarborough Maine while on
vacation there ...
AGE:
31 (Honest !) :-)
HANDICAP:
Like Sammy Davis, I only have sight in one eye too! :-) But
seriously, when I used to play in a league it was all best-ball
pairs with the number of winning holes counting, so I never did
get a handicap. My average was mid-90s, but I had better (an
88 is my PB). Now, due to a number of factors including additional
paunch, limp muscles, new clubs and severe rustiness, I'm hitting
in the 110s. I expect to work out the kinks on the driving range
and get back to "average amateur" range soon. My goal is to be
hitting ninety fives (max) within a couple of months.
BEST ROUND:
88 at Green Hill Park, Worcester, circa 1979.
MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT:
Having a frog jump out of the cup as my putt was about to roll in
(thus preventing it from doing so), on the 10th hole at Clearview
CC in Millbury, MA, circa 1975. On the next tee shot I used the frog
instead of a ball (just kidding ...).
TYPE OF BALL:
Recently, I've been hitting Spalding Top-Flight IIs and XL-IIs.
I'm not real particular about balls - if it's got a rubber core,
and it goes straight and long when I hit it (I don't blame my
slices or hooks on the ball or the club) - it's OK with me.
TYPE OF CLUB:
I have a new set of Spalding Futura Plus clubs. These are OK for
me; when I do what I'm supposed to do, I hit them pretty well.
These are pretty much entry-point clubs, but it was all I could get
and not risk alimony payments as well, if 'ya know what I mean.
I have a tendency to jump from hobby to hobby rather, er, quickly,
and my wife is convinced this is another passing fad which will
get left with the pile of RC helicopters and planes, woodworking
equipment, model rocket stuff, electronics gizmos, Nintendo
Video Games, etc. etc. So, in the interest of domestic tranquility,
I'v decided to keep a low profile in terms of golf economics for
now. I have an old Otey something-or-other putter (isn't Otey how
Buckwheat said "OK"?). It's got a wood shaft (ash I think), leather
grip and solid brass sand-cast head. I think it's an antique, and
I've been using it for a long time. It treats me pretty well, but
I may be looking for a new putter from Santa-wife come Christmas.
GOALS:
Play golf and stay married at the same time :-).
I'm also eager to join a league, and if anyone has any openings
or suggestions, please contact me at WSDEV::MARKEY. I promise
I'll chop those hundreds down in no-time.

This is the first year I've really gotten serious about my play. I
bought a decent set of clubs, which forces me to get out and play on a
regular basis. I've started breaking 100 regularly, so I suppose I'm
on my way! I'll take some lessons once I more fully develop all my

I'm 38....wish I could shoot my age for nine.
I'm a 19 handicap.
I am a member of the Green Meadow Golf Club in Farmingdale, it is a 9
holer today but the back nine will open in July. (Course rating 65.9
and the slope is 115.)
I just bought a set of Ping eye2 irons (2-SW) and play with grafite
woods.
I prefer to use the Ultra ball but also like Pinnacle Gold.
My best round was a 79 at Natanis Golf course.
My worst is 132 at Sugarloaf but have gotten it back together with
rounds in the 90's....tough layout!
I have had a couple of 79's and a couple of eagles and I guess they
were my best moments, it seems like I had more worst moments then good
ones....like being par after 8 holes and scoring a 9 on the nineth....
yech!
I am the president of the DEC League here at ASO, so if you would like
to know anything about our league feel free to contact me at
DNEAST::ROGERS_GORDI or DTN 271-6692.
Hit'em straight.

| hi,
this really doesnt resemble an intro note--but there was no other to write in,
so- hello everyone!
I've just started to get interested in Golf due to my spouse really loving it,
so this is my first check-out of the file. WOW what a file, huge and jammed
with info!
I'll be catching up..
oh, some info: We are located in Southern NH, we play the public courses around
like Amherst, Buckmeadow, Ponemah (how DO you pronounce that?). We've played
all over like Maui (Kapalua Bay & Kanapali), Orlando (Buena Vista pro), Monterey
(Pebble). My spouse is very serious, and has attended Stratton Golf academy.
I was a watcher then, but now want to get serious.
Spouse (Jim) plays Wilson Staffs..I have some bogus beginner womens clubs and
I have to laugh that I think they have some dumb name like "princess" on
them (blush!) and they are blue! har har. Maybe if I do get some learning
and progress going I'll buy some decent ones!
So Im anxious to start reading -- see you around!

| I've been reading in here for a while, so I guess it about time I let
you all know I'm here. I have just recently took up the game and can't
understand why it took me so long, this is a great game. I played about
5 times last year, and some friends suggested I should take some lessons
before I formed bad habits. I took some group lessons sponsored by the
county (10 lessons for $28.), and am looking to take some more from the
same pro. I try to play at least once a week, or at the very least get
to the driving range if I can't play.
Name: Jerry Klevas
LOC: Fairfax, Virginia
Age: I've already celebrated the 22 anniversary of my 21st
birthday.
Hcap: Unknown, but I would say 36.
Home: I guess Twin Lakes Public G.C.
Memorable: My first (and only) birdie on a Par 3, about a 6" putt.
Type Ball: Wilson Staff TC, I feel good with them.
Type Club: Pro-to-Pro, a custom fitted set, 3-SW, & Medal woods they
are perimiter weighted, irons are 1 1/4" longer, woods are
3/4" longer with jumbo grips on every thing. I'm 6'5" with
what my instructor calls paws for hands.
Goals: 1. To break 100.
2. To be able to play enough so I can consistantly put the
ball where I want it. I think when I can do this my #1
goal will happen. :-)
3. Looking to buy/build a driving range with my
brother-in-law.
I have learned a lot from reading this notesfile, you folk sure know
this game.

| Name: Grant MacDonald
Location: Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada
Position: Software Specialist
Age: 29
Handicap: ??
Best Score: 87
Memory: Haven't played enough to have a significant memory. Although I
did come close to getting a hole in one once. I was playing in dense fog
on a local course and had no idea where the pin was. I just hit the
ball hoping for the best. When I got to the green the ball was sitting
about an inch from the hole. I had one of my best rounds that day even
though I couldn't see 10 ft in front of me.
Home Course: Green Fee'r. Used to be Hartlens Point (right on the
ocean)
Balls: Maxfli
Woods & Irons: Wilson X-13's
Goals: Short Term: To be able to consistently shoot below 90.
Long Term: Break 80
Other: I am very interested in finding out more about the simulation
golf that I've seen on TV before. Our golf season is very short here
(5 months). How well are these indoor golf setups doing? How much
do they cost? Is it a franchise? Is it realistic? I will search
this notesfile to find out more info, but if any of you know where I
can find more information please let me know. Golf has been booming
up here for the past few years and this may be one way to give the
golfers something to do in the winter.

Mike Leary, new Nashua resident. Currently just under 30 years old
and in my first year of golfing. I like playing just about anywhere
but I'd have to say Whip-or-will is my home course. My FAVORITE course
so far has been Richter Park in Danbury, CT (it was great except for
the marshal that kept on my kiester all afternoon)(it wouldn't have
been so bad except his attitude and approach were very gruff instead
of politely pushy) I have a set of hand-me-down Bruce Crampton
something-or-other irons and a joke of a putter and just snagged two
Taylor-mades from Bob Malay. My rounds lately are coming aroung quite
nicely since watching and practicing BOB MANN'S AUTOMATIC GOLF video
techniques. I have been under one hundred twice 99 and 98 and the
only other 18 I played was at Richter (64 - 51) My goal this year is
to break 90 and work on sand saves. If anyone can put really well and
wants someone to get you there in regulation I'M YOU MANG!

to a lefty putter which has resulted in a dramatic improvement
in scoring. Cured the yips and am happy again. Who cares about
snap hooks.... 8^)
Best Round: 67 (Ok, it was in 1975 and it was an easy course)
Home Course: Passaconaway (league). Infrequent golfer (18 holes a week if
I'm lucky)
mmm: Being one out of the lead after the first round at the Haverhill
Cities and being interviewed by the Lawrence Eagle Tribune.
The leader was Paul Cortese for NE amateur trivia buffs. The
ol' career faded fast after that though.
Ball: Due to inconsistent play, have gone to anything surlyn that will
hold up to punishment. Would love to play balata again
someday (sigh)
clubs: Titleist Tours 1,3 (persimmons)
(5 wood crashed and burned on the practice range)
Taylor Burner 7 degree Clone Driver (Metal) - Retired until I find
cure for snappers
2I-sw
Bullseye putter
Goals: Win the league championship on the coattails of my able partner.
Finish in the top 10 at the Challenge Cup IV.

| Not to worry, Gary Player always said that the best ball striker he
ever saw was at a 3 decker driving range in Tokyo. He asked the guy
what he shot, and the reply was "I've never played on a course." Sad.
If you ever get to the States, there a lots of affordable places - no

NAME - Bill Andrus
WHERE YOU WORK - Stow, Mass.
AGE - 45
HANDICAP - 13 for 18 at the end of last year
BEST ROUND - shot a 39 for 9 once
HOME COURSE - Overlook CC but the league plays at Amherst, NH CC.
MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT - I started DEC league play last year after
injuring my shoulder skiing made me unable to play softball
anymore. My 17 year old son was my partner and he had never played
regularly before so he started with a 15 handicap for 9 holes which
is the maximum the league allows. He was having a good round last
August and I told him on the 9th fairway that if he were to get a
bogey on that hole he would not only have the best 9 of his life
but would beat me scratch for the first time. So he hit a 5 iron
stiff and parred the hole.
TYPE OF BALL(s) YOU PLAY -- Topflight II
TYPE OF CLUBS YOU PLAY -- Tour Precision 513 custom clubs.
Actually I haven't played with them yet, they're new. Last year I
was still playing with my Chi Chi Rodriquez El Dorado clubs by
Noethwestern that I bought 22 years ago when I was in the service.
GOALS -- Single digit handicap this year

40 years of play. I average approximately 100 rouns (18) per year

important than the score.

Home Course Wenham Country Club - this is a tiny little contrived golf
course that has very tight fairways lots of OB and 18
circular ( all are circles ) that seem posessed. It's
taught me how to play my irons.
MMMoment Playing in the club championship at Wenham CC-4 ball.
My partner (3 hcp) and I are down 5 with seven to play.
He chips in on 12 4 down
I roll in a deuce on 13 3 down
He birds 14 2 down
He birds 15 1 down
We are standing on the 16th fairway waiting to hit our second
shots, one of our opponets jacks the ball out of play-
the other from a downhill lie double strikes the ball
which then strikes him. They left their clubs on the
course and walked in without a word. We bogied the
hole and played in at par. As far as we could tell
the double strike was shot+2 strokes+a two stroke
penalty for "touching the ball". Totals 1 swing
5 shots.

Home C - Not a member of any club, but play at many locally.
Memorable moment - Many, but to recall one was when I was playing my
brother-in-law and we bet a pint of beer on the longest
drive on this par 4. He went first and hit a screamer
AND got a lucky bounce off a stone or something similar
on the edge of the firway. There was no way on earth
I was going to beat that so I had no choice but to
try and take the skin off the ball. Ofcourse I
duffed it and the ball never got more than 6 inches off
the ground. Before it stopped, a dog ran on the
course, picked up my ball and ran off down the
firway. The owner shouted and the dog dropped my
ball about 10 yds past my brother-in-laws.. Yes!
