1283.0. "HUBwatch V3.0 is very slowly???" by TLAV01::WITTAYAJ () Fri Aug 05 1994 11:35
Hello you all,
I have installed HUB900 multiswitch and DECrepeater900TM at Read-Rite
Thailand but when I used HUBwatch V3.0 to manage HUB900 and DECrepeater.
The result is very slowly to show a new module that customer inserts it.
I waited for 2-3 minute( May be 10 minute ) it has appeared on monitor.
It include the speedometer in DECrepeater900TM.I have enabled a pooling.
My cofigure is below:
HUB900 #1 HUB900 #2

Environment:
- 400 pc
- The traffic is 40-50 % ( by sniffer or IRIS capture )
- HUBwatch V3.0 for Open VMS connect to HUB900 #1 ( I must
replace HUBwatch V3.0 with HUBwatch for OSF/1 when it released.)
Read-Rite response:
- Read-Rite would like to inform that Read-Rite will allow DEC to
solve this problem on managing the DECHUB till Sep 30,1994 which will
be cut off date. If after Sep 30, 1994 and this problem are not solved
yet,Read-Rite will rturn DECHUB to DEC Thailand.
Read-Rite requirement:
- HUBwatch can display all error in 1 minute.( Such as insert module,
release module,traffic at DECrepeater900 change and port on or off )
My question :
1. Do you have a solution for me ?
2. Why does HUBwatch display very slowly when network had many traffic?
3. Why does HUBwatch run slowly when DECHUB had 7-8 module in there?
4. Could you solve this problem?
Thanks a lot,
I wait for your reply.

At that level of Ethernet traffic you will have performance problems;
no getting around it.
I would suggest replacing the fiber repeaters with DECbridge 900 MX (I
didn't say it was a cheap solution) - you'll be able to drop the
ethernet traffic levels down to something reasonable (which will be
good for everything, not just hubwatch).
