ricky paull (yasmine's boyfriend, who is also a soap actor) (at q.m)
one of the singers from the group 'the cover girls' (got her autograph
since i was in in the second row and she sat in front of me after her
group was done)
rich camarillo (former new england patriot) (at my high school when he
and a bunch of others came to play basketball with our team)

USA hostages, one of my close roomies at Haaahhhvaaahhd has been an
Iranophile all his life -- meaning he was fascinated by Persian
literature, history, music, cuisine... culture. This was the early
'60s and he thought the USA had done major crimes against Iran by
installing and propping up the Shah. He ended up marrying an Iranian
woman he'd known since high school, joining some arm of the Foreign
Service, I'm sure helping to mitigate the iron fist of the Shah... and
for his trouble was imprisoned by the militants for all those months.

If you really don`t know, traci was a porno star in the 70`s-8-`s who
was only 15 years old when she started. She posed for Playboy and when
asked how old she was she said she had turned 18 the day before. All
the videos in the market place of her had to be pulled because of the
child pornography laws. The distributers just recently lost (I think)
their appeal at the U.S.S.C.
She has been trying for the last several years to lead a clean life and
I think she is married and has a daughter and is about 25 years old.

Well, in the fine tradition of Soapbox tangentialism, here is
a story I read about 10 years ago. I no longer have the original
text of the story, but I should be able to suitably paraphrase.
There was a guy who had a Harley. He loved his Harley dearly,
so much so, that he never let it sit out in the rain. Problem
was, this poor gent didn't have a garage. So, instead, he
would park his Harley on the front porch. Each night, he would
install a plywood ramp so that he could drive his Harley up
the stairs and onto the porch. One time, he got a little bit
tipsy, and thus drove his Harley with a tad too much vigor,
not only up the ramp, but through the front door. This resulted
in our hero breaking his leg.
The paramedics were called to take him to the hospital. While
he was away, his wife decided to clean up the mess of gas
and oil in her living room. Her modus operandi was to wring
the rags she used to soak up the petroleum products into
the family commode.
Unfortunately, her husband was a smoker. When he returned
home from the hospital and nature made its call, our hero
proceeded into the bathroom with cigarettes in hand. Once
sufficiently seated in the family library, our hero tossed
the butt of his cigarette into the water below him.
POOOOOOOOOOOF!
The paramedics were once again summoned, this time to aid
our hero with regard to second and third degree burns over
a large portion of his ample derrier.
To add to the day's indignity, the paramedics found his
new predicament so humerous, that they could not contain
their laughter, and they dropped the stretcher, adding a
broken arm to the festivities.
And _you_ thought you were having a bad day.

Farms in "downtown" Topsfield. Dr. Murray Feingold
(WBZ TV and radio personality), being a local resident,
used to stop there for (horror!) junk food fixes.
Dr. Timothy Johnson lived up the street from us.
These days, my parents are known to socialize with
General George S. Patton, Jr. and his wife. Yes,
the son of *that* General Patton, and with a war
career of his own (Vietnam). He's a gentleman farmer
these days and has named portions of his property
after his soldiers who died in 'Nam.
Those who grew up in the Boston area may remember
the clown called Willie Whistle. He was also a
family friend (out of costume). A nice man, whose
other job was as a VP at Channel 38.

of the lesser players for my college paper. As an avid theater major
and mega-fan, it was most thrilling.
The one I regret missing was also college-paper related - as the Arts
Page editor, I ran a series of features on the people who make shows
"work" - backstagers, musicians, road staff, bit players, etc. I wound
up with strep throat on this particular weekend, and missed meeting
Peter, Paul and Mary when we interviewed the staff at the Concord
Pavillion in Northern Calif. Waaaaah!
James Taylor - ran into him (physically!) in the grocery store in
Newton MA when I was about 14 or 15. Needless to say, I was struck
dumb, as was the friend who was with me. We were so shocked, we didn't
even act like fans & ask for an autograph. We just stood there and
stared, stupidly allowing our chins to drag on the floor.

| In 1983 I formed CompSync Incorporated, a company which was in the
business of designing and building custom music synthesizer systems,
as well as writing software for high-end studio systems (Fairlight,
Synclavier, WaveFrame, PPG, etc.)
My largest client, and one of the venture capitalists for my
company, was Peter Gabriel, the former singer of Genesis (now
a solo artist). My association with Gabriel continues to this
day. I have his private phone number at his cottage in Box,
Wiltshire and am one of the few people who knows the very
very silly name he makes hotel reservations under. I have
traveled quite a bit with Gabriel.
Through Gabriel, I've met all the members of his band in the
last 13 years. Through some of those band members, I've met
other people. Due to the efforts of Tony Levin and P.G.'s cousin
Stephen Paine (credited on the Security album), I met and had
breakfast with Robert Fripp in London, and have met all the
other members of the "Discipline" King Crimson lineup. I
also met Kate Bush, David Lanois, Pat Methany, Roger Taylor,
Steve Levine (the real "brains" behind the band Culture Club),
David Geffen and Yossou N'Dour through my association with
Gabriel.
In 1985, I had breakfast in Boston with Frank Zappa. We
were discussing synthesizer business.
A couple years ago, I did a project for DEC with Charlie
Farren of the group Farrenheit who, at the time, was also
a DEC employee. Charlie and I became friends, and we've
since worked on a couple of projects together. My association
with Charlie, and his drummer John Muzzy, has led to meeting
Benjamin Orr ("The Cars") and Brad Delp ("Boston").
In a previous life in radio broadcasting, I interviewed
Elliot Easton of "The Cars".
My father used to make his living as a performer and session
musician, and the list of people I've met through him is downright
staggering.

Quarrington's team. Paul wrote the novel `Whale Music', which
was recently made into a movie starring Maury Chakin (whose name
you probably don't recognize, but whose face you would...he was
Kevin Costner's crazy frontier commander in `Dances with Wolves',
and was one of the trial witnesses in `My Cousin Vinnie').
Paul also wrote the screenplay for `Camilla', starring Bridget Fonda

261.167 | Brush with greatness? | TROOA::TRP109::Chris | if not now, when? | Fri Feb 17 1995 18:05 | 30 |
| My brush with greatness involves a session player in L.A. named
Louis Conti (or is it Santos - I can't remember) - he is a
percussionist and also the brother-in-law to one of my best
friends. Has wild stories to tell about going on tour with
Madonna - once was enough and he would never do it again. Too
much drugs and sex and weirdness. He followed that tour up with
one Steve Winwood and was amazed by the contrast - even brought the
wife and kids along to a number of dates. While in L.A., I also
met Sissy Spacek in a clothing store in Westwood (I think it
was called Chassons or something like that). Closer to home, I
am good friends with an actor named David Mucci who you probably
haven't heard of yet... but hopefully will someday. Dave has
done a lot of stage work in Toronto - Les Miserables (where he
understudied the role of Jean Valjean and played a number of
other roles), played the Big Bopper in "Buddy" (which got taken
to broadway - the cast was on Geraldo's show and Geraldo kept
calling him David Moochi, instead of Musi - you'd think the host
would at least learn how to say his guests names!) and is currently
the 3rd lead in "Crazy for You". He got down to the final three
for "Beauty and the Beast" but it went to somebody else. If you
saw the Clint Eastwood movie "Forgiven", Dave also played the
bad guy who slashed the hooker. Although he wasn't in the movie
much, he had a memorable death scene which you might remember -
got shot while in the outhouse. And... for those of you who
remember really cheesy movies, he was the bad guy in "Prom Night"
(with Jamie Lee Curtis) - I think the character's name was Lou.
They filmed the prom scenes at a local high school and if I scan
the people on the edge of the dance floor, I can see a lot of
goofy friends!

Chicago, who fell out of favor with Tony "Big Tuna" Accardo, and
was henced dispatched accordingly. I believe it was either in his Oak

TV movie and wrote a book about her life as his daughter. I believe

Bob Cummings was also lucky enough to mess around with Julie Newmar
(aka the best-known of the 1960's Catwomen on "Batman") in the
early 60's sitcom "My Living Doll", in which Newmar played a
robot made to look like (what else?) a beautiful woman. Cummings
also had two or three other sitcoms in the 50's and 60's ("Love That
Bob", "The Bob Cummings Show", etc.), and was known for light comedy
roles in movies in the 1940's and 1950's. He was pretty well known
