Exactly my point. Yet when he and Rush debate in a neutral forum they come
out about even.

So if he can't even beat Donahou in a fair debate, how good can he be?

Rush would be easy to beat in a fair debate. He makes the same mistake every
time I've heard him talk. His slant is to quote the most radical left wing
political ideas then claim that it is main stream liberal thinking. If he
had to go issue for issue with a moderate liberal, he's ideas would crumble
into dust.

I think .4 is an unfair accusation.

He's merely asking for the discount, and jumping through the
hoops that the business set up for him to get that discount.

I know that this isn't the proper place to discuss the
semantics, so I'll only say that taking the discount as
described in topic 12 is NOT immature, and therefore the
P&K accusation in 35.4 is not correct.

    Gene has admitted he scoped her bumper sticker before greeting her;
perhaps she noticed that, realized he was just playing his own little
game, before deciding her reaction. That is, I doubt that a simple
"good morning" was the sum total of their interaction.

Or maybe her mother, or her life experiences, taught her not to talk
    to strange men.

some people can't take a hint as is obvious by their complete lack of a
formal, decent response, slinging epithets, evading the point and
generally ignoring another's request of them.

but many people in hindsight realize that hints are sometimes subtle,
out of kindness or decorum or liberality, building to a crescendo
when the hearer is too obdurate to be moved by subtlety.

Wait a minute . . . What is this? . . . The ultimate in new age
parenting? Toss a bedtime story cassette in the Sony for the kid
to listen to while he falls asleep?

I mean, I'll be the first one to admit that I used to fall asleep

You know DougO I'm really wondering if you aren't a right wing religious
wacko after all. You fill your replies with statement after statement saying
over and over that I'm wrong and you are right, that no one listens to me
and you have proven each of your points.

That's just like a right wing preacher using the religious wacko system of
proof:

    State theory
    Repeat theory over and over
Claim we are right and everyone else is wrong
Conclude that the theory was correct.

Why don't you knock it off and try debating without constantly trashing your
opponent. There's more hate in this reply than Pat Buchannan had in his entire
campaign.

Why don't you knock it off and try debating without constantly trashing your
opponent. There's more hate in this reply than Pat Buchannan had in his entire
campaign.

You're wrong, Scott. No P&K applies here. When it comes to unilateral personal
attacks, George isn't even in DougO's (or quite a few others' here) league.

Now if you seized on this part of George's note...

Ok, Jack. I'll go through this very slowly for you.

You spent the better part of a week reaming people up one side and down
the other because of the fact that they were" being PC" in "complaining
about" your assertions about the invalidity of some folks practices vs. what
you mistakenly saw as the traditions of their faith. You couldn't stand
the fact that people should mention this when, after all, the parties
that we "claimed" were offended didn't have anything to say about it
themselves. How dare we be so "PC"? Weren't those individuals "thick-
skinned" enough to stand up for themselves? "They" weren't asking YOU
to apologize, were "they"

And then you've got the audacity to turn around and say "I find the response
an insult to those in the world who are genuinely the victims of racism
and bigotry." What the hell's the matter Jack? Why do you have to be so
PC, complaining about what others are saying about victims other than
yourself? After all, the people you "claim" are the victims haven't
said anything, have they? How can you dare to be so PC? Aren't those
people "thick-skinned" enough to stand up for "themselves". "They" aren't
asking for any apologies, are "they"?

Does that help, at all, Jack? I really get tired of having to be yet
another noter that needs to point this crap out to you.

35.103MKOTS3::JMARTINYou-Had-Forty-Years!!!Wed Apr 26 1995 16:0616
Well Jack, I brought up the example of our illiterate congressman from
New York who compared the republican school lunch program to the
holocaust. I believe the holocaust to be quite an adequate example of
victimization...as over 6 million Jews were put to death.

I don't believe a challenge to another persons faith equates to true
victimization on innocent people dying. And I'm not being PC because
the victims of World War II are legitamately grieving over the
occurences of the 1930s/40s. I'm not being PC because the victims of
the Holocaust are crying out, Never Again...whereas the supposed victim
in Soapbox seems to be occupied with more important matters, the
whining squad of BACK40 is alive and well though!

Maybe I'm still not addressing this right...Ahhh who cares!?

I think "he who is without sin cast the first stone" means more than
all the practicing preachers in this file can really think about.

I believe...in my honest and open opinion, when judgement day arrives,
the characters that have been casting judgement all thier lives and
telling others that THEY are wrong and should be like the "good people
the God fearing people who OBEY the word of the BIBLE (written not by
GOD, but by many of his followers...)", they are the ones that are
going to be denied...God forgives all..my GOD that is...so as long as I
live a clean life, judge others NOT, and respect my fellow man woman
and child no matter what their practices in life, I'll be waving by by
to all the hypocrits, bigots, homo-phobic, judgemental, sin casting,
psalm chanting in front of buildings type people.

I can't judge how others live their lives, nor should anyone else. How
we all live is different, if some are gay, so be it, no one else's
business to cast dispersions on others, that's not GODs way. He loves
all, even the rotten ones. He forgives all, even the rotten ones, but
what he doesn't tolerate is judgement of others....that's HIS Job!

I disagree Joe. Children have certain standards taught to them from a
very young age. When a person becomes older and decides that some of
the things taught are nonsense, he shares this new knowledge with the
teachers (parents, family, peers etc). These teachers of course believe
what they taught and immediately do and say things to instill guilt
onto the student. He feels guilty that he has gone against his
teacher's teachings. He doesn't think he is wrong but he feels guilty
    anyway. Pretty natural I think.

Funny Joe, I don't disagree. I believe feeling are from within as well.
Feelings are also emotional and most often are not in line with
reality. Notice how people make decisions based on how they feel as
opposed to what is real. You can see that in how people react to you.
I've seen them attack you based on an assumption they have about you.
Then you have to defend yourself against something you don't think in
the first place. This is what happens when decision are made based on
feeling as opposed to thinking and reasoning.

I dunno Bill, Spence argued and won for Randy Weaver in a federal
    court; no cameras allowed.

Spence has his "down home" routine pat. But in a federal court
he's not playing to the court of public opinion, he's playing to
that jury. More than one analyst has said that they felt lawyers
on both sides stepped over the line because they were aware of that
ever present camera beaming them to the world.

Gerry Spence may be verbalized it, but I think it's a reasonable
question. If enough judges and lawyers in future cases say they
don't want that camera present, how many times can the media go to
another court and fight and say they have a right to have the camera
    there.

You've got that right!! Spence's "down-home" routine can get on
my nerves at times and I'm not a fan of the Weaver decision, but
the fact remains the man won it in a federal court - there were
    no cameras to play to.

I think Bob Shapiro and a few other folks of Jewish persuasion
spelled out "stepping over the line" better than I can. Fuhrman
will get his, but comparing a bad cop to Adolph Hitler was enough
to make any clear thinking person sick to their stomachs.

        >	34.4952 - you're all boring ******** for talking about this crap.

One more thing... this is not what I said. What I said -- and
it was meant in the most collective sense -- was that I think
    pretty much the entire country has become boring ********;
in no way did I exclude myself. It was not the trial which
caused this, it was the fact that as a country we are socially
retarded. It's our own damn faults. The media didn't do it
to us. WE DID IT TO US. We're the goram idgits that turn
the friggin' box on every night!!!

Because of my feelings, I have resolved to never again speak
of the trial, even if in casual conversation (try me, you'll
see the back of my ass walking away and that's about it); listen
to any news story related to the matter, or anything else.
As far as I'm concerned, a certain person never existed and
    the trial never happened.

Am I trying to prove a point? Most emphatically, YES!! We can
take control of our lives back! This trial is a symbolic
turning point. Either we all become useless marshmallows,
or we chuck the friggin' media machine the bird!!

Get the hell out of your caves America! Do something besides
let your brains ooze out on the living room floor!!

    Karen,

How many times do I have to explain the same thing to you?
I made my original comment in soapbox, but that does not
much that it was particularly _about_ soapbox. Yes, I
gleeeeefully next unseen my way past the OJ note. But
that is not what I was talking about. What I talking about,
originally, was my particular frustration at piling into
a car with a bunch of people only to have them talk about
frigging OJ all the way to our destination, while we were
at our destination, and then all the way home. I was
venting a little steam, true, but overall I do think the
country has lost it!!! I'm OJ'ed out, but on top of that,
I'm tired of the "dirty laundry" nature of our country
now. We need to know "the dirt", "the dish", the"inside
scoop". Well, no we bloody don't. I'm personally sick of
it. I'm sorry if I don't express my frustrations in ways
that are designed to coddle and appease you.

    'Tine

In a nutshell, get lost. You've never had a nice thing to
say about me, and now you won't say anything at all unless
its a personal attack. I've seen you criticize other boxers
for following noters around and nipping at their heels; what
do you call what you do to me? The sooner you learn I don't
give a $#!+ what you think, the better off we'll both be.

    	How to cure the wilting:

Take the penis out of the jar. Fill it with VERY warm
water (slightly warmer than bath temp), put the penis back
in and then put the jar in the refrigerator for a while.
The conflicting warm water and cool air force the air bubbles
out of the penis shaft ... air bubbles is what makes the penis
    	wilt.

No, it was you. You teasmed me about a note I entered in the
dream topic (my note was about watching a guy on stage playing
bass, and he had no pants on and had a humongous schvong.)
Anyway, you said something to the effect, "What, _you_ had
a dream involving a penis ?!?!?" And, the rest is history.

But you, and Mz. Deb, while you were teasing me about it, never
once gave me the impression that you were doing anything but
a bit of good-natured ribbing... unlike a certain other member
    of the set "box babes".

If Simpson himself confessed to the murders, you would claim

Your earlier claim that you are objective in this case is laughable.

Like you? I don't even know you!! I know your "notes persona" and
nothing more. Oh yes, I do recall some e-mail we had a few years ago,
so I guess I do know you slightly by that...

I very well may get to like you if we ever meet. I don't know.... I do
believe (IMO) you have ulterior motives when you deal with "thumpers"
(your denials to the contrary), and until I can be proven wrong or
think otherwise, it's just an exercise in futility for you, however
many "smiley faces" you throw out there.

Oh BTW... did you ever apologize to Jack Martin for getting pissed off
and publicly berating him the way you did (before they were deleted of
course)?? I don't mean your obvious dodge that you spoke to him
off-line and "settled" things (paraphrase). I mean did you say "I'm
    sorry".. or "my apologies"??

It doesn't even matter, because it's certainly not your place to decide
and cast judgment on them. The point is, there's no call to be
criticizing people merely for their differences from your ideal model.

Innocent is indeed the correct word to describe a person who uses words
some might consider pretentious. Using such words is no crime, no
moral wrong, no rudeness. It is not in any way correct to call the
speaker "guilty" for it, and it is, as I explained, a call for
    ignorance to do so.

do not consider using words that some people consider pretentious to be
    wrong-doing.

But seeing as this is the pot and kettle topic, let us give the award

You are apparently unable to make a distinction between

You repeatedly and persistently make personal comments about those who
try to converse with YOU, of course. You start almost every note you
    write with a designated shot.

You believe YOU can justify your actions, though, which makes you quite
    the hypocrite.

    > I'm not questioning your intelligence or anything like that, I simply
    > think that you are unable to get past our differing world views.

You lack the cognitive ability to converse properly. Not that I'm
questioning your intelligence or anything, either, right?

Your problem is that you live on such a tight mental track with your
ideology that you can't handle it when other trains and tracks come
near you. In your mind, they're all necessarily irrelevant.

You have one very narrow ideology which is the only thing allowed to
make any sense to you. Everything and everyone else is out of whack
(which makes it quite literally impossible for you to converse with
anyone about YOUR little choo-choo unless they're already on board.)
