I saw an ad in the latest guitar player magazine for a device called the "Datacaster". This consists of a pot which replaces one of the original pots on your guitar. This pot is really a rotary switch. It allows you to select upto a dozen of your favorite efx via midi control. I'm not sure what else the system includes, or how the midi signal is brought out of the guitar, but the system price is around $279.00 It seems like a pretty good way of controlling efx/preamps without having a bunch of pedals on the floor. They claim the device is "wireless ready" whatever that means. Maybe this is the start of a new industry buzz-word, sort of like cable-ready tv's. Anyone else catch this ad ?? Comments ??
