4223.0. "lattice Version 5.05 or 5.04 ?" by SNOFS1::ROMANI () Thu Oct 25 1990 03:53

    I have just purchased the Lattice C compiler and have installed it on
    my hard disk.The question I have is when I run LC1 it says I have
    version 5.05 but when I use the LC command it says version 5.04 and
    blink v5.04 ,what is the story I just like to get an answer from
    other lattice c users out there.....

4223.1not lattice anymoreSALEM::LEIMBERGERThu Oct 25 1990 08:5110
    Lattice C is not actually Lattice C anymore. A short time ago SAS took
    over complete responsability for this compiler. The only version that
    they will be supporting is 5.1 . This version has many improvements,
    workbench support,faster blink,2.0 includes,and more. I'd return it to
    the dealer,or caa sas asap. They may forgo the 40.00 update charge if
    you explain what has happened. (just purchased) It is a shame some
    dealers don't make an attempt to keep current on the software,of course
    if you go mailorder you get what you pay for. The phone # for sas,and
    all the info needed is in a prior note. I am not sure which it is so
    search for SAS.
4223.2answer to .0SALEM::LEIMBERGERThu Oct 25 1990 08:546
    I never answered you original note! Some of the lattice stuff that had
    been patched displayed the different version #'s because the patches
    applied only to the object modules being patched. I noticed this when I
    blew away my compiler,and was rebuilding it.

4223.3Free upgrade?TLE::RMEYERSRandy MeyersThu Oct 25 1990 18:4911
Re: .1

I don't think returning the C compiler is needed. Lattice (presumably
SAS also) has the policy that if you buy the previous version
of the compiler and a new version comes out within the warranty
period, they will ship you the update for free.

Call the SAS support line immediately to see what your rights are.
If SAS will do a free upgrade, get dibs on it immediately. Otherwise,
figure out if returning the old compiler and buying the new one is
cheaper than upgrading what you have in hand.
4223.4V5.1, wow, news to meAUSSIE::BAKEREverything is mutable,in its own wayThu Oct 25 1990 21:4011
    I'm registered with them and I havent heard a word about V5.1, is it
    recently announced?

    I believe Lattice were with SAS corp. when I was still receiving the
    updates ect., so has anyone noticed a major change in
    support/notification policy? Since the release of the V5.04 patch?

4223.5Bad disk from LatticeAISG::LANDINGHAMGuy M., DLB5-3/E5, 291-9268Fri Oct 26 1990 11:313
And, at one point, Lattice had shipped out some disks containing programs with
incompatible versions (I got one of them) that just wouldn't work. They were
very good about sending me a corrected version disk.
4223.6thanks for the helpGIDDAY::ROMANIDon't turn it off yeettttt!!!!!.Sun Oct 28 1990 19:298
    thanks for the answers I assume the problem is just that it is justed a
    patched version and I should assume V5.05 and watch out for known bugs
    with that version.
    BTW I will be sending in my form in to become a registered user asap to
    SAS (I assume I will ignore the address saying send it to lattice.
