If your organization or constituency group is sponsoring a VoD-related event
open to others, I have a few requests:

	- The US On-Line Diversity Calendar has nearly a 3 week lead time
for listings in the monthly calendar. If you'd like to have
something included, please let me know with this lead time
		in mind;

	- If you send me announcements that you would like publicized to a
larger audience, please let me know explicitly so I can
distinguish this case from a FYI-type memo.

	- I'm looking at how we advertise VoD activities within the facility
(i.e. flip charts at entrances). If your event requires this
kind of publicity AND you need signage, please give advance
notice so I can line up some assistance.

Thanks,

Hi folks,

You are cordially invited to attend a presentation by Evelyn Murphy, former
Lieutenant Governor and Acting Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, on
3/6 at 11:00 in the Stow Cafeteria. Ms. Murphy topic will be "The Emergence of
Women into Politics in the 90's". I've attached other specific information to
this note. I'd appreciate it if you would give this wide visibililty and, of
course, be there.

Thanks,

Gary

Evelyn Murphy, former Lieutenant Governor and Acting Governor of the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts, will speak in Stow on March 6th from
11:00 to 12:00. Ms. Murphy's presentation is titled "The Emergence of
Women in Politics in the 90's." Ms. Murphy is sponsored by the Stow
Valuing Diversity Committee and is the keynote speaker for the Women's
History Month events in Stow.

In 1975, Evelyn Murphy was appointed by Governor Dukakis to serve as Secretary
of Environmental Affairs for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. She led
the opposition to drilling for oil and gas on the Georges Bank; successfully
blocked the diversion of the Connecticut River; and started the state's
Heritage Park program. For her environmental leadership, she was
honored by the national Sierra Club, the Massachusetts Audubon Society, and
the Regional Environmental Protection Agency for New England.

Ms. Murphy ran unsuccessfully for Lt. Governor in 1982. She was then appointed
Secretary of Economic Affairs for the Commonwealth. In this position,
she initiated a corporate childcare program to assist firms in establishing
child care services for their employees and the surrounding community.
She started the Centers of Excellence program to spur the state's
development of biotechnology, marine sciences, polymers and photovoltaics
as well as microelectronic circuitry.

In 1986, Evelyn Murphy ran again for Lt. Governor and won the election, becoming
the firsts woman in the state's 200 year history to hold constitutional
office. As Lt. Governor, she was active in policy making and political
action to protect women's abortion rights, health insurance for all
citizens of the state, and opposition to the death penalty. In 1990,
she ran unsuccessfully for Governor of Massachusetts.

Evelyn Murphy is now the managing director of Brown Rudnick Freed and Gesmer,
a regional law firm. She and a colleague are writing a book about the eight
women who ran for governor through the general election of 1990. In conducting
the research for this book, she holds an appointment at Radcliffe.

Ms. Murphy received a BA from Duke University in mathematics in 1961;
a MA from Columbia University in economics in 1963; and a PH.D. in economics
from Duke University in 1965.

Please join the Stow Valuing Diversity Committee and attend this interesting
presentation. It will be held in the Stow cafeteria. If you have any
questions, please contact Gary Kenefick at dtn: 276-9139; SONATA::KENEFICK
or Gary Kenefick @ OGO.

We appreciate your support by giving this notice wide distribution as well
as your attendance.

We've been thinking that its time for African Heritage Women to come together
and we would like you to include yourself in a meeting of African Heritage
Women of Digital Equipment Corporation on April 2nd from 5:30 - 8:30. We
believe that although we are active members of other constituency groups
there are certain issues that are unique to us as African Heritage women.
The location will be determined based on who plans to attend.

We want to establish a forum inclusive of all African Heritage Women
regardless of wage class, function, sexual orientation and/or location. The
two goals we have discussed are to:

	1) Bring focus and visibility to the status of African Heritage
            Women in the company.

	2) Provide opportunities for us to explore, network, share, support
and celebrate ourselves as African Heritage Women.

This is an opportunity for us to come together to celebrate who we are and to
make change together and to support each other in making changes together.
Please share this opportunity with other African Heritage Women you know who
might be interested. Minutes of the meeting will be shared with all those
who are interested. All are welcome.

If you have questions feel free to call Carolynn Jones at DTN 276-8357 ,
Madelyn Clark-Robinson at DTN 223-3740 or Barbara Latimer at DTN 223-9263.
Please consider joining us.

Please complete the following so we can plan for this event. Return
completed form, by March 20th, to Barbara Latimer @MSO.

	1. I plan to attend

	2. I want to attend but cannot based on schedule conflicts.
	    Please send me the minutes.

	3. I want to attend but cannot based on travel. I want to
input and be involved. Please send the minutes.

	4. I am not interested at this time.

A Message from the U.S. Diversity Organization

Congratulations to Mercedes Sanchez and Jose Ramirez, the recently
appointed co-chairs of the Hispanic Leadership Group, on their new
roles. The Hispanic Leadership Group is an outstanding example of
the leadership provided by Constituency Groups at Digital.

A range of Constituency Groups exist within the company. All are
employee-initiated and led. Some groups are more formal, with an
organizational structure in place and regularly scheduled meeting
times; others are informal and meet on an ad-hoc basis. Some seek
to raise awareness within the company about a particular type of
diversity, while others meet primarily for the purpose of affecting
company policy about a particular issue.

All Constituency Groups have in common a focus on some type of
change agenda related to their difference. They frequently act as a
catalyst for positive change within Digital. The Hispanic
Leadership Group, for instance, sponsored two Leadership Development
Workshops last June, one of which contrasted "Hispanic Leadership
Values" with "Digital Leadership Values," and the resulting
implications for Hispanic and non-Hispanic employees at Digital. It
is this group's leadership that also influenced Hispanic Magazine
to cite Digital this year as one of the 100 best employers for
    Hispanic people.

We congratulate the Hispanic Leadership Group for their exemplary
leadership within the company and the community, and offer our best
wishes for Jose and Mercedes in their new roles.

If you would like more information about how to locate existing
Constituency Groups or how to start one, send mail to ICS::VALDIV or
    VALDIV @MSO.

ATAC will be replicated at DECWorld '92, and all employees who plan to
attend on Employee Day, April 24, are encouraged to visit the Assistive
Technology area. The ATAC is a place where Digital employees and

barriers. Digital's new DECtalk PC product, which primarily assists
PC users with visual disabilities, will be demonstrated at the event,
along with the full suite of products in the Access Center.

DECWorld participation is being supported by the Assistive Technology
Group, the Computing Access for People with Disabilities Program Office,
the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Program Office, Corporate Community
Relations, and the Disability Strategy Committee.

    MINORITY ENHANCEMENT GROUP (MEGA)

The Minority Enhancement Group for African-Americans (MEGA) is a
constituency group put together by the Ohio Valley Account Group. Our
charter is to "assist the African-American professional to achieve and
maintain an environment that allows each employee to broaden his/her
support base, increase value and sense of belonging, and maximize
ability to contribute, directly and indirectly, to goals and objectives
of the corporation while at the same time pursing individual, personal
    and career growth."

MEGA is 13 members strong. The members include individuals from all
functions of the field organization including ADMIN. Our meetings are
held on the first Monday of each month and rotates between three
district sites. The group has been in existence for two years and we
work closely with the OVD Valuing Diversity Board of Directors.

    CORE GROUPS IN DIGITAL

For more than ten years, Core Groups have provided the opportunity for
Digital employees from diverse backgrounds to meet regularly to explore
issues of diversity in the work place. Groups of eight to ten employees
typically meet once each month to explore assumptions and perceptions,
strip away stereotypes, and build authentic relationships with people
they see as different from themselves. Core Groups have played an
important role in the history of Digitals Valuing Diversity work,
particularly in the area of personal and interpersonal
awareness--leading to a more empowered work force.

In an effort to strengthen and reinforce the role that Core Groups have
played within the company, we are preparing to offer a series of Core
Group Leadership Workshops over the coming year. These two-day
workshops will allow participants the opportunity to examine their own
leadership style within the context of a Core Group laboratory
environment. As a pre-requisite, Core Group Leaders must have been
members of a Core Group (or had comparable experience).

These Core Group sessions are co-sponsored by the U. S. Diversity
Organization and the Worldwide Diversity Education Office. For more
information, on joining Core Groups or Core Group Leadership Workshops,
send mail to Tracey Guzman @MSO or ICS::GUZMAN.

PASSOVER: EXODUS TO FREEDOM, THEN AND NOW

A Cultural Event Sponsored by the Jewish Constituency Group

     DATE: Thursday, April 16

     PLACE: Nathaniel Hawthorne Conf. Rm.
                      LKG1-2, King St., Littleton, MA

Have you ever wondered about the significance of Passover?

Come to this open house and learn about the holiday which
celebrates the Hebrews' freedom from bondage in Egypt, and the
     creation of the Jewish nation.

Come discover how the meaning lives today in the massive airlift of
Ethiopian Jews to Israel, and the freedom of emigration for Jews
previously restricted within the Soviet Union.

Come taste matzah, the most important Passover food, with typical
toppings and beverages. At 12 PM, watch us prepare a sweet spread
made of apples, using both European and Middle Eastern recipes.

We will continuously show a video about the dramatic airlift from
Ethiopia, display pictures, ritual objects and books, and answer
     your questions.

Core Groups have played an
important role in the history of Digitals Valuing Diversity work,
particularly in the area of personal and interpersonal awareness--
leading to a more empowered workforce.

In an effort to strengthen and reinforce that role Core Groups have
played within the company, we are offering a series of Core Group
Leadership Workshops. These two-day workshops allow participants the
opportunity to examine their own leadership style within the context of
a Core Group laboratory environment. As a prerequisite, Core Group
Leaders must have been members of a Core Group (or had comparable
    experience).

These Core Group sessions are cosponsored by the Diversity Organization.
For more information on joining Core Groups or Core Group Leadership
Workshops, send mail to Tracey Guzman @MSO or ICS::GUZMAN.

MAJOR JEWISH HOLY DAYS IN SEPTEMBER

Sometimes staff events or business functions have been scheduled at
times when Jewish employees or customers haven't been able to attend.
Perhaps this note can prevent such oversights.

Digital's Jewish VoD Group knows that our holy days, which follow an
adjusted lunar calendar, can be confusing. We provide this
information to reference when you schedule Digital events.

Monday Sept. 28 New Year (5753), 1st day
Tuesday Sept. 29 New Year, 2nd day

JEWISH NEW YEAR (ROSH HASHONAH) - A two-day observance that starts
the High Holy Days season. It includes extended synagogue services.

             Thank you for your consideration

    CORE GROUPS IN DIGITAL

For more than ten years, Core Groups have provided the opportunity for
Digital employees from diverse backgrounds to meet regularly to explore
issues of diversity in the work place. Groups of eight to ten employees
typically meet once each month to explore assumptions and perceptions,
strip away stereotypes, and build authentic relationships with people
they see as different from themselves. Core Groups have played an
important role in the history of Digital's Valuing Diversity work,
particularly in the area of personal and interpersonal awareness--
leading to a more empowered work force.
