4811.0. "Is DECmodel still alive?" by NQOS01::nqsrv228.nqo.dec.com::Werner (NORMAN WERNER) Thu Aug 29 1996 20:49

Can anyone point me towards the person(s) responsible for marketing DECmodel, assuming that
we still make and sell it. Any help appreciated.

As far as I know, the product was cancelled and the responsible group
    laid-off.

Check the GUESS::DECMODEL conference -- the product was sold off and I
    believe that development continued.

Last I heard, about six months ago, Kestrel Systems, Inc. in
Hubbardston, MA, had purchased all rghts to DECmodel. The transaction
occurred perhaps 18-24 months ago. Paul Hale, ex-DECmodel Product
Manager, and Stew Hoover, ex-DECmodel Engineering Manager, were at
    Kestrel at the time.

I haven't heard from either Paul or Stew in the last six months. I did
check the web and found a Kestrel Systems at
http://www.kestrelsystems.com. The page is very lean and there is no
indication of the Kestrel product that replace DECmodel.

    Hope this helps!

    THANKS!!

Rick (who still occasionally uses DECmodel!)
4811.4DECmodel kit still available for use within DigitalAZUR::SUTHERLANDCommunications Expertise Center SI : 828-5286Wed Sep 04 1996 06:4618
Hello,

Someone beat me to the answer regarding Kestrel [ the net dropped me as I was
answering ]

We can still use the tool internally but cannot sell it.

If you want please mail me for a pointer to the kit.

Regards,

	Simon

BTW: I was browsing the Web recently and found this

http://www.scitor.com/pc/pc_page.htm

There is a free downloadable demo. Looks very interesting.
