135.1 | Habs/B's - who cares... | AFW4::LACAVA | | Thu Mar 13 1997 18:04 | 10 |
| Talk about a meaningless game for a once-burning rivalry. I'd rather
watch that puck bag sit on the bench than have to sit through another game
with Rohloff taking 400mph shots that miss the net by 8 feet, and
Odgers skating in circles away from the play, and Mallette appearing to
skate fast, yet never in the play. Tell you the truth, Sheldon Kennedy
has actully been one of the most exciting guys on the ice....
And boy do I hate when they have those Cam Neely tributes during
intermission. Gives me a knot in my stomach thinking about how bad the
B's are....bring on Joe Thornton!!!

So I'm about 10 minutes into my daily one-hour commute to
the MKO Correctional Facility and I'm listening to WZLX waiting
for my daily dose of the Stones. The DJ, Charles LaQuadeira,
starts talking about the letter writing campaign his show started
to Jeremy Jacobs house in New York. He goes on to mention that the
station will be picking the best letter to win a special prize.
I don't know who actually won the best letter, but "Honorable Mention"
went to some guy named George McNamara from Leominster. When they
announced this, I scratched my head and thought, "Isn't their a guy
in the Bruins Notesfile by the same name?" and didn't he recently
post Jacobs home address? And didn't he mention that he got this
address from the very station I was now listening to? Being a
reasonably intelligent fella with a kollige dagree, I pieced together
the puzzle and determined that the Honorable Mention letter to Jeremy
Jacobs went to our very own mac!
mac, you are our leader! We shall follow in a huge revolution
against the Facist mangaement in the Fleece Center......
....Congratulations, dude!

| Ya, congrats Mac! How about posting your letter here so we can all
read it?
Hey, I was listening to ZLX (I believe cause I flip a lot) on the way
in today and they were mentioning something about the possiblity of the
Ruins loaning Bourque out to a team that is in the battle for the cup
this year so he will have his shot at it. They went on to say that
Bourque would come back to the Ruins next year....
Now I'm not up on all the shananagans of the NHL but I know in soccer
that teams loan out players to other teams all the time. Could this be
true or is it someone's pipe dream?
3-0 last night to the Canadiens and Hartford got thumped 6-0 by the
Devils.......Thank goodness golf is just around the corner.

| Yeah, come on Mac, post your letter (expletives deleted of course)
in here.
I suppose the B's could "loan" Bourque to a contender. If I were
Harry I'd run the idea past Ray and see if he were willing to do it
first. If he were, I think it would have to be done as a trade. You
know, the B's trade Ray to a contender for another player (a player
that the contender used on a fourth line perhaps) and maybe a draft
pick. When the playoffs are over the B's could perhaps purchase Ray
back for a predetermined cost. I don't know if a player has to clear
waivers before he's purchased or not but that would be one way to do
it. Face it, most fourth liners on a real "contender" would probably
be a first liner on this years Bruins.
Dale and Gord made mention of the fact last night that with the
loss to the Habs, the B's cannot escape having a losing season this
year. They can't even get back to .500. This hasn't happened since the
1966-67 season. Pathetic!!!

| Watched the game last night and your boys put in a strong effort.
Trouble is they all look like the have hands of stone! Didn't they get
a scouting report on T-Bo....SHOOT HIGH!!! They made T-Bo look great
by shooting along the ice all night. He's dynamite with low shots
'cause he's always down.
The Montreal commentators (Michel Bergeron being one of them) talked
quite extensively about the Jacobs comments. They seemed surprised at
the endorsement for Sinden and O'Connell.
Bergeron also pointed out that Jacobs never said anything about Kasper.
He said that the rumour is that Kasper is gone any day now and that he
will be replaced by ....damn I can see face but can't think of his name.
He is currently an Assistant Coach with Tampa Bay I believe and is a
former Bruin.
Bernie.
Oh Yeah, they also had a good laugh at the penalty shot call from the
day before. "Incroyable!" (unbelievable) is what they said.
Bernie.

Dear Mr. Jeremy Jacobs:
I have been a Bruins fan since 1969, I am obviously dissapointed in
the team's performance this year. YOU control the destiny of this
team we so dearly love, so if I were you, I'd heed the calls that are
resonating throughout Bruins Country....PLEASE listen to our pleeds
for a good, quality, competitive hockey team.
From where I stand, there are issues to resolve in order to accomplish
this:
* Get the #1 draft pick this year (by all accounts, it should be Joe Thornton).
Sign him to a multi-year deal!
*Build around Thornton after that, similar to what the Philidelphia
Flyers have done since they acquired Eric Lindros.
*Pump some dearly needed $$$ into this Bruins team, and sign a few
free-agent veterans during the off-season (YOUNG veterans, like Scott
Young-ish type players who will contribute every night).
PLEASE, Mr. Jacobs...heed our call for a QUALITY Bruin team, or else
all you'll have is an EMPTY Fleet Center and an ever-growing disgruntled
fan base.
Please feel free to contact me.
Regards,
George McNamara
