3499.0. "Duplicate entries of Main drawer" by KERNEL::VANRIXTELE (Emma van Rixtel) Fri Nov 05 1993 20:05

ALL-IN-1 V3.0-1  VMS V5.5-2

Does anyone know what would cause a user to see two main drawers in his file
cabinet?

From the System Managers account they do MFC, MD and then select the users
account. When they list the index of available drawers it shows 2 entries for
the MAIN drawer. Upon reading these 2 entries they are both found to be identical
so they use REM to remove the first drawer, but his removes both entries.

To add then again they have tried going to MP and using the ADD option, as well
as typing the following..

	<GET #OAFC_SEED_USER="username"
	<DO OA$LIB:OAFC$PART_SEED.SCP

This did not seem to make much difference. Still 2 entries were created. From
the users account, both drawers can also be seen.

Can anyone help, as I do not know enough about the FCS to help.

Thank you,

Emma.

3499.1Looks like two filecab.dat entriesCHRLIE::HUSTONFri Nov 05 1993 21:0716

    It sounds like there are duplicate entries in the filecab.dat, not
    the partition file. The drawer name would be in both places in one
    form or another.

    do an IAD for this user, see if two show up there, this only uses hte
    partition file. If only one shows up, move out to DCL and do:

    $ dump/rec filecab.dat

    in the users A1 directory. this is pretty ugly do read so be ready to
    hit the hold screen. Look for two entries that look something like:
    0::[user]MAIN

    --Bob

    Hi,

    This is a known bug. If you do WP DRM IAD for the user and leave the
    system field blank, so that it doesn't call the File Cabinet Server,
    then the duplicate won't be listed.

    The bug is in the PART$MAINT data set, and has been fixed for the PFR.
    The main thing is that there really aren't two drawers, just a bug in
    the display code telling you that there is.

    Cheers
