Hi, I have a customer who said he needs to know how many characters can be in the permanent and temporary symbol value, not symbol name. We looked at a .pst and saw that the maximum record size in a .pst is 256 bytes. So if a record contains the symbol name and the symbol value then the two together can only equal 256. Is that right? What about the temporary symbol values? Any ideas? Thanks, Kathy

Kathy, Yes, the maximum symbol length is 256 - 30 = 226 characters. Cheers, Iain. | |||||
2683.2 | Temporary much longer... | IOSG::PYE | Graham - ALL-IN-1 Sorcerer's Apprentice | Tue May 11 1993 22:11 | 7 |
The size of temporary symbols is much longer. Something like 1024 or more. They could easily find out with a simple loop sticking characters on the end until they got an error, or the symbol stopped changing. Graham |
