| Its the name for the VT based office product you know and love
as ALL-IN-1... It was called IOS to distinguish it from that
deft piece of marketing ALL-IN-1 Mail (The X400 Mail Product!).
Latest version is V3.0 (originally codenamed Diamond)

| Hi Winton,
>deft piece of marketing ALL-IN-1 Mail (The X400 Mail Product!)
Yes put's a smile on my face. That product is now called DECmailworks
so now it's part of the Pathworks family of products.
I remember taking my very first call for ALL-IN-1 Mail and I asked the
customer what menu option he was having problems with !!! Need I say we
were both confused to say the least :-).

| Oh, and you MAY hear the term
ALL-IN-1 IOS *Server* -
This in fact is not a reference to the File Cab Server mechanism
introduced in V3.0 that allows shared drawers, or even
a new architectural model for X-Windows or MS-Windows... but wait for
it...
*A server that serves character cell terminals*....
ie the standard ALL-IN-1 office product...
Isn't Marketing wonderful! :-)

| As Winton points out, the correct name for the VMS-based product,
actually, is ALL-IN-1 IOS Server. To be proper, the name "ALL-IN-1 IOS" really
refers to the entire ALL-IN-1 Phase II family -- more of a "strategy" than a
single "product". (I mean, think of it: Integrated Office System -- it's
supposed to connote integration of *all* desktops. So in that light, ALL-IN-1
DESKtop for DOS, for example, is simply another element of the ALL-IN-1 Integra-
ted Office System -- IOS.)
Many people have (incorrectly) begun to make 'ALL-IN-1 IOS' synonymous
with the VMS-based, character-cell oriented ALL-IN-1 IOS Server V3.0; it's
quite easy to get confused.
In regard to your original question about whether you have the correct
software, or need an upgrade of some sort, don't worry about it! Nothing's
changed.

| Re .-1
Shouldn't that be
"ALL-IN-1 Integrated Office System Server for OpenVMS V3.0"
and soon to be
"ALL-IN-1 Integrated Office System Server for OpenVMS Alpha AXP V3.0"
Almost could't fit it on one line
