3583.0. "Moving DECwindows directories to a diff disk" by COGITO::ZIKA (z) Mon Nov 05 1990 18:09

    Is there any way to relocate DECW$ logicals to a different disk?

    I am planning to do a VMS V5.4 install and need more space on the
    system disk.

    ??? Logicals don't take up space ..

    On a more serious note, I guess you mean you need to delete/remove the
    DECW files. In the past I've used SYS$UPDATE:DECW$TAILOR to tailor off
    all the DECW files, then done the installation.

    Thanks, that seems to make sense.

    Loss worry ==> Going from V5.3-1 to V5.4 of VMS is an
    upgrade not an installation. If I tailor off all the files I may lose
    information "if" only Rev'd up files are added by the upgrade. I guess
    its back to the Release Notes, Installation Guide and VMS notes

3583.3DECW$TAILOR doesn't know the DW3 files...LESLIE::LESLIEAndy LeslieTue Nov 06 1990 15:203
    You can always tailor DECWindows back on.

    Caveat: not if its DECWindows V3!
3583.4Just do it!TOOLEY::B_WACKERThu Nov 15 1990 16:253
A large part of the 5.4 upgrade is to delete all unrequired DW files,
so it does a pretty good cleanup for you since it knows that DW54 will
end up replacing them all anyway.
