| E Grace,
My heart reaches out to you in this time of sorrow. I know the
ache of losing someone you've known all your life is an ache quite
unlike others. There is a vacancy which no one will ever fill again,
nor would you want anyone to even try to do so.
A huge hug,
Richard

Oh, my Mohican.
Braveling, be staunch, cry if you need to, scream, mourn, cycle through
the pain.
I'm here anytime.

| I want to thank all of you who have sent me your love and support.
While I had already lived through the deaths of 3 other siblings, this
one was different. This is the first since I have been in recovery, so
I could not (would not) use any "anesthetic." Please keep the thoughts
coming, as my father was hospitalized again this morning. sigh.
What has been particulary heartwarming for me is hearing from noters
who remember working with Bruce. As he was on permanent disability for
the last 4 years or so, I find this extraordinary. I shouldn't, of
course; the only one who didn't know Bruce's human value was Bruce.
(Oh, he wasn't perfect, but he did have one or two good points!)
Anyway, it is just nice to know that some of the people he worked with
at PKO1 remembered him.
Bruce had a talent of which I was always envious; he worked with wood.
He had taken up whittling in the last few years. He made the most
adorable "whatzits" and other animals and birds. He carved them out of
hardwoods mostly.
This may not seem all that special, but it was. You see, Bruce
suffered from corticosteroid induced osteoporosis. His spine had - at
last count - 17 crushed vertebrae. He had had ~40 - 50 rib fractures.
He had a pump implanted under his skin that fed a continuous dose of
morphine to his spine. His other medications (for the Asthma and
Bronchitis) caused his hands to shake. Constantly.
To me, it is a miracle that he could hold a knife, let alone make his
little delights.
For Christmas, he carved for me a nest, 4 little eggs, and 12
distinctly different partridges.
So you see, Bruce lives on. Pain free.
I'm sorry if this (and my other recent writings) has been disjointed.
Thank you for letting me tell you a little about my big brother.
E Grace

E,
I send my hugs. I am one of the lucky people who has one of
Bruce's carvings in my office. They are priceless. He managed to take
a piece of wood and give it personality. Knowing how difficult just
the little one I have must have been for him to make gives it special
meaning to me.
Hugs,
Faith

| he sounds like such a special person. I know he will be remembered with warmth
and joy by his friends and family. Take your time to mourn his passing, as
you must, but celebrate his life. It sounds like a rare and precious gift
to all he knew.
My sympathy to your and yours.

I know this is a bit late, E., but I am just getting caught up.
Hugs and warm thoughts and energy to you. If he was anything like
you, then he was indeed special.
love,
Debbi
