    It has been suggested that I put tentative travel plans in here to see
    if I can coordinate a place to stay with my arrival in Boston.  I
    anticipate arriving on the 19th (probably late afternoon), and will
    leave as early as possible on the 24th or catch a late flight on the
    23rd if that's more feasible.  If anyone can meet me at the airport, I 
    would appreciate it.
    
    I will bring a sleeping bag, and would prefer a non-smoking
    environment.  Whether the company is women only or mixed women/men
    doesn't matter.  I'm comfortable with both genders equally.

    I am back from vacation and will begin some serious planning this
    week.  I am looking for some additional volunteers.  We need a housing
    coordinator, a shuttle/transportation coordinator and folks to take 
    over a specific weekend activity and organize that effort.
    
    I am also in the process of looking for a place to have the Grand Party
    Friday night.  I think we need a place comfortable for 100 people, that
    is relatively inexpensive and will allow us to use their kitchen.  It 
    should also allow us to rent from 4 in the afternoon till 2 in the 
    morning.  It also would be nice if there were a small room that we
    could use so we could prepare for some special events like a Talent Show 
    or readings.  There should be room for parking at least 50 cars.
    
    If you want to help in the planning process let me know.  If you have
    written I will be in touch.  
    
    D! is coordinating the FWO events...if you have ideas for these
    activities she would be the person to contact.
    
    I will publish the first list of party goers that plan to attend the
    Grand Party and what they will be bringing to the potluck this weekend. 
    If you have decided on your culinary delight you can send me mail and/or 
    publish it here....it is fun reading notes about party plans! 
    
    Last but not least...to our out of town guests...we can accomodate just
    about any schedule for housing and transportation from three
    airports...Manchester, NH  Worcester, MA  and Boston, MA.  You do not 
    'need' a car...there will be rides to the various events.  You may

    my visit.  If Kim is willing to put up with me borrowing her kitchen,

    this party.......................Also, I've purchased tickets for the
    Elvis Costello/Replacements concert that is on this weekend (not
    realizing that they were the same weekend).
    
    As long as people don't mind a mature 16 year old 'man' at the party,
    I'll attend, but I otherwise I doubt I'll be able to make it.  He's
    family and my first responsibility is to him....

    The Grand Party is Friday June 21st, from 6 - 11 at the Maynard Rod and
    Gun Club in beautiful downtown Maynard.  The party will be pot luck and
    we are asking a $5 donation to cover the cost of the hall, decorations
    and miscellaneous needs.
    
    There will be a bar and a bartender for alcoholic and soft drinks.  We
    will have to purchase our liquid refreshment from the bar and we will
    not be allowed to bring beverages into the hall
    
    After 11 I have a feeling we will be invited to a nice home in the area
    to continue our party till 1.  If you still want to party after 1 you
    can head towards Clinton for breakfast at my house!

    June 21 - the high solstice.  How wonderfully appropriate!

I am going to organize the food for the Pot Luck on the 21st a little
differently then we have in the past.  I wish you would send a note
to me indicating what you will bring, I will update this list and
post it periodically in the sign up note.

I plan to have a left-over committee (if you would like to volunteer
send me mail) that will be in charge of packaging the left overs and 
distributing them to the various events that will be held over the 
weekend.

We cannot bring beverages into the hall, and we do not need paper
products.  There are several items which are easy to purchase and if
you are not a cook you could sign up for these items.

I am categorizing the foods and suggesting you bring enough to feed
8-10 folks.  I am anticipating 100 hungry party goers for the 21st.
As I said left overs can be packaged and used at events during the
weekend.

If you have any suggestions on how to improve or better coordinate
this activity....please send mail!  If you know what you will be

    that can be eaten by itself (doesn't need something to "go with it"),
    can be enjoyed no matter what the accompanying beverage, and can be
    picked up with the fingers.

    Cindy Painter and I wiooll be there with a mystery guest who some know
    and some don't she wants to accompany us. Right now I'm thinking of
    bringing some shrimp (Several pounds) and some sauce. both spicy and
    non. Although from reading most of the notes in here. I 'm sure you all
    have the temperment for really hot spicy sauce. :-) Anyway all types of
    sauce for all people.

    For the new reader and for the old and I know I am nagging...  but
    that's my job!   ;-)
    
    This party is a little different then one's we have held in the past in
    that it looks like it will be larger, it is a significant event and it
    is a little more formalized than a house party.
    
    I am having a great time organizing this event...but a lot of the fun
    will be in knowing that folks had a good time at the party.  Because we
    are holding this in a hall as opposed to a private home I really need
    to know how many will attend.  Some of you have participated in the
    planning note and have not formally indicated that you are attending. 
    If you are not on THE_LIST and plan to attend please send mail.
    
    I have requested a $5 donation per person attending.  Several of you
    have mailed your donations to me...if anyone else is willing to do this
    I would be most grateful.  Send mail.
    
    And last but not least THE_FOOD.  I am not overly concerned with this
    part of the organization.  Wnoters traditionally have contributed
    generously to Pot Lucks.  The time of the party is such that we need to
    be sure we have enough substance for a supper meal.  So send mail when
    you decide what you will be bringing and I will add it to the menu and
    this process should insure that we have a good variety.
    
    I am looking for a Left Over Committee.  I will bring the plastic wrap
    and containers.  The committee would begin around 10:30 to organize the
    food and I will bring a cooler.  We can bring the cooler to our After
    Hours Party, Saturday Wnotes Central and the Grand Brunch.  We will be
    very cautious of potential spoilage!

    Maggie will be doing the name tags...this is a good reason to be on the
    list.  A Maggie-generated name tag for the Anniversary celebration is
    sure to be a collectible in the future.
    
    Think about it...people gathering that met through discussions on a
    computer....wearing computer generated identification!

    A late night party will be held in Stow at the home of Laura Ervin,
    Friday evening from 11:00 to 1:00.  Laura lives on a lake and has a 
    hot tub.  Bathing suits are required and Laura asks you to bring a 
    towel if you plan to swim or relax in the tub.
    
    Directions will be given out at the Grand Party.

    	A "little bird" whispered in my ear that a party was going to be
    held and Liesl was going to be there.  Since those two things go
    together like Nitro and Glycerin  ;-), it immediately got my attention.


    	I'm going to make every effort to be there, but unfortunately I'm
    not sure if it'll fly.  I'm booked up until the day of the party so I'm
    not sure if I'll have time to make anything.


    	But my thanks to the "little bird" for thinking of me, who's one of

We have designated the hall as non-smoking.  You may smoke 
outside and as always I know you will dispose of any refuse

    I noticed that no one put in directions from the North.  I haven't been
    to the Maynard Rod and Gun, but as best I can figure the quickest way
    would be...
    
    Take 495 South to Rt. 2 East (exit approx. 29)
    Take Rt. 27 South through Acton and Maynard.  Follow 27.
    In Maynard Ctr. 27 takes a turn to the left at a light.  (McDonalds on
    the right).  Follow it to the left.  (However, don't take a right at
    the next light, even though 27 does.)  Go straight, past Mai Lings on
    the right to Old Mill Rd on the left.  MR&G is at the end.
    
    If any of this is wrong, someone feel free to correct me.

Thank you to all those who made the event a memorable one.  The entertainers
were grand!  The food was wonderful.  The people I had never met in person I

    As an empathic vampire, I think I am mildly satiated on the wonderful
    loving energy that was in that room. Mildly, ha! I'm brimming with
    energy. What an evening. To be have a woamn come all the way from
    England and call me a brave soul, is just fabulous. To have a couple of
    read-onlies come up and introduce themselves and say they enjoy what I
    write, WHAT I WRITE, can you belive it. It's just amazing. To meet so
    many that I know only as words on a screen, was so tremendous. Thank
    you all for having this bash, I love you all so much. The entertainment
    was top notch. The MC was immensly HUGGABLE and did hir job so
    profeesionally. You are all so brave to me. I could never get up there
    and do anything.

 Words seem so inadequate to describe the incredible feelings meeting so many
new friends and seeing so many old friends at one time. It was just excellent.
The entertainment showed what a talented and diverse bunch we are. It was
really cool.

 My only regret was that the party did not afford me sufficient time to seek out
everybody I wanted to meet, and that I did not get to spend as much time with
the people I did meet as I would have wanted to ('specially those from far 
away.) 

 I already miss some of you.

    I also really liked the fresh, homegrown strawberries NancyB brought -
    juicy and sweet.
    
    The food was great, and as I was on a two-day bike trip this past
    weekend, I could eat as much as I wanted - neato!
    
    I never got to meet Carla, Carol & Shelly, and who knows who else from
    out of town, and who knows when they'll come around again?  Boo-hoo.
    It was great to meet Liesl, though.  You're welcome back any time as
    far as I'm concerned, Liesl.  (-:
    
    Oh yes, and how could I forget?  THANK YOU, JOYCE!  I LOVE YOU!
    

I'm finally back home and on-line and totally exhausted. What a weekend! I'm on
new faces overload. I loved meeting so many of you!! Now I have to get back to
reading my mail and trying to catch up. liesl

I know!  I read these mail messages and I'm saying, "Oh, I didn't see her/him!
Oh, darn!  I wish I would have known that s/he was there!"

I *tried*.  I circulated, circulated, circulated.  Every now and then I looked 
around the room and tried to see a name tag on someone whose face wasn't 
familiar, then would introduce myself.  Toward the end it felt like all I was
saying is: "glad-to-meet-you,-are-you-going-to-be-at-any-other-events?!!"

    I know what you mean Carol. I only had time for a major hug with you
    and didn't get to meet Shelly and Evan. I'm sorry I didn't make any
    other events. I am very happy that I got to meet you even for those
    couple of minutes, though. Liesl for a minute or two, same with Bonnie
    and Joyce. The read onlies who made a point of introducing themselves
    and saying they enjoyed my notes still has my ego boosted to a major
    high. Again thank you all and if I've missed anyone, then I apologize.

what _i_ liked were the giant chocolate-dipped strawberries resting
oh-so-delicately on a bed of whipped cream. <swoon>... when i went
back for seconds, i realized that it would be far nicer to share, so
i gave my second one to a very deserving friend.

    Alas, I have but a crumb of its former glory.
    
    The chocolate bar made it to the after-hours party at Laura's where it
    was greatly diminished.  What wasn't eaten Friday night was served up
    Sunday afternoon at the FWO BBQ.  Not much escaped that.
    
    I now have about a 2 inch cube of "Ghiradelli DougOus V. Yummyacious." 
    I can't decide if I should simply eat it or if I should plant it in my
    garden and hope for the best.
    
    What a weekend. Old friends, new faces, lots of hugs, fun times, weird
    discussions, swimming, great food, CHOCOLATE, more hugs, balloons.
    I am still floating.

I had a great time at the party and the party after the party.  I
wish I had a little more energy but it was a crazy week.  It was great
to meet some of "out-of-towners" who I only knew electronically for so
long.  Wish I got to talk to more people in depth.  Anyways, what a
great community.

My goodness, some of it actually survived the weekend?  When 6lbs
were consumed at the Grand Party Friday night, and we took 4lbs to
the afterhours party, I thought it wouldn't even last to the FWO
events!  You folks did Ghiradelli's finest, proud!

    Next time tell me it has something in it I'm allergic to (I know,
    someone tried that on Friday with little success)!

    What a tremendous party!  Darn good thing it was on Friday night, since
    on Sat. night I went into labor!  (I was the rather pregnant person
    with chocolate all over my fingers and face :-)
    
    It was wonderful meeting so many interesting people and grazing on
    such great food.  It gave me something to think about in between
    contractions...
