Does anyone here hunt Wyoming? I just thought I`d drop a note in to
Say that all out of state deer, antalope, and elk applications are
due by March 15. Drawinigs will be the first part of July.

I`ve hunted out there the past 3 years......it`s been a lot of fun.

1148.1WY information needed.DECALP::HOHWYJust another ProgrammerWed Mar 11 1992 09:2216

Jeff, could you be bothered to tell me a little about
WY hunting and license application rules? What are the
big game licenses they offer for drawing? Do you apply
for particular areas? Does WY use a system of preference
points like CO does? What is the license cost? How easy
is it to draw licenses for elk and mule deer? Any useful
	addresses or phone #s?

I know this is quite a lot, but if you could be bothered
it would be nice to get the information. Thanks in advance.

	Cheers

I know that deer are $150 this year. They went up from $100. I`ll
get the specifics and post them. The onlyrule I know of is that part
of Wyoming is a "Wilderness Area"...which means that in order to
hunt there you must have a guide/outfitter. I don`t hunt in one of
    these area`s .

I`ll get the addresses, rules.....etc and enter them by tomorrow!!!

Here is what I`ve got ...

What are the big game licenses they offer for drawing?

TheBooklet I get only talks about Deer, Elk, Antelope, and I think
    Bighorn.

    	What is license cost?

Prices went up this year........my deey was $150 up from $100. Last
year antelope was 200 and elk 300.

How easy is it to draw licenses for elk and mule deer?

I`ve gotten a licence every year for the past three years. Some og the
guys that go out have been picked for 20 years. I`ve only applied for
deer so I can`t answer about the rest.I do know they used to get
    antelope also

Licenses and seasons are by areas. The seasons are different by area.
They choose a certain number of out of state licences dependant upon
    areas hunted

    Addresses.......

1148.5less applicants, extra permitsSALEM::MACGREGORFri Mar 13 1992 13:4315
I hunted Wyoming in 1988 and a friend of mine lives there. The reason
that people have not been turned down is that the number of hunters
that have applied are less than the number of permits available for the
lottery. The extras then go on sale in late summer. But make sure that
you are specific and correct when you send in for your application. Any
flaws and you get turned down. They are very strict on this. I easily
could have gotten an elk license when I was there, they had quite a few
cow tags left. I also could have picked up another deer tag. My buddy
got 2 elk tags last fall. When I went, deer and antelope was 100, elk
was 250 and most other big game was 300. But it was still half the
price of Montana's. Deer there is 200 and elk is 500 I believe. This is
for non-residents of course. They take care of their resident's. Deer
for them is 15, elk is 50. I am going back this year for vacation. But
maybe next year I will go for hunting again.

Yup...... your right as far as the number of people applying. Last
year was the first year there were no extra licenses for our area.

The first year I went I bought my license in July/August....I woudn`t
have been able to do that last year!!!
