1033.0. "New hunter seeks help" by BOOKIE::FALLET () Tue Sep 17 1991 17:15

    I am a new shooter who would like to go hunting this fall. I
    have been shooting clays for the past several weeks and would like
    to go bird and duck hunting (I have a 12 guage). I also have a
    .270 that I'm really eager to try out on deer.

    I noticed a previous noter advertised openings in a hunting party, but
    it was in another state. I live in Nashua, NH, and would like to hunt
    in my home state. Are there any individuals or groups planning to
    hunt in NH who wouldn't mind showing a newcomer the ropes?

    I should also add that my son, age 12, would like to hunt small game
    and/or birds, and it would be an added pleasure for me to introduce
    him to the sport as well, though this isn't a requirement.
    I figure that I can show him the ropes if I learn them first myself.

    Thanks in advance,
    Michael

    re. 1 Every Sunday in the sports section of the N.H. Sunday News they
    post Hunter Education courses with the dates and times and the towns. I
    think they usually run about a months worth.

1033.4(NEW AREA FOR DEER HUNTING)PDMONT::DESROSIERSTue Oct 08 1991 17:3212
    i have just gone in partners on 100 acres in alabama to raise horses. i
    have been talking to the locals around this place and they tell me
    theres alot of deer in the area. my question is how should i set an
    area for deer hunting. most of the field is open land except maybe
    about 5 acres. i have been up their everynight checking the place out
    but i haven't seen a deer yet. should i set up a salt lick in which
    case its not illegal in this state. they have to be removed two weeks
    prior to the gun season or should i go out and put some deer scent
    around the area i want to shoot from and see if any deer signs show up
    before the season starts. i would hate to waste my time sitting their
    all year and see nothing. i really don't trust the locals because i'm
    from nh and they don't take kindly to yankees buying their land.
