Well Bob,
It is really worse than that. Not only will you feel like crap for
blowing off opening day/ or anniversary every year, but a large
hunk of this years season is gone. You forgot to mention the
honeymoon, this usually takes a week or so, then all the other
newly married things that have to occur. THis should pretty much
fill up a month if you are lucky.

933.2 | priorities honey, see you in a week | KNGBUD::LAFOSSE | | Thu Mar 28 1991 15:41 | 14 |
| oh you foolish little man... ;^)
you can kiss this season goodbye, what with the wedding and the
honeymoon and all the other things you have to do when you return, your
pretty much hosed!
Don't worry, however, there is still hope for you... it could be worse,
she could be delivering a baby during that time of year... so plan
accordingly in Feb/Mar, next time she says she wants to snuggle up,
lest you be handing out cigars instead of venison...
;^)
good luck, Fra

Wow Bob, Whew!!!! I'm glad I'm not in your shoes :') As a matter of
fact, let me tell you that when my wife and I got married, we (I) made
sure that we were back from the Honeymoon before the opening of
Bow season in early Oct. But if your seasons are anything like ours,
then Oct 19th is the Xth Saturday in the month, so that it means it
won't always fall on your aniversary!!
Also, In planning a family.... Our first is Due in
early July (way away from the fall). My wife thinks I'm a fanatic,
but lucky for me she's pretty easy going....
You could always celebrate your anniversary a week early
ONe year will be shot, but maybe not the rest... Might as well
relax and enjoy it (and take the ribbing from everyone :') ).
Best wishes, Rob

933.6 | better take up fishing | DATABS::STORM | | Thu Mar 28 1991 19:13 | 9 |
| Yea and every year the money you had socked away for that new rifle,
or hunting coat, or..... will end up going towards a nice anniversary
present!
I guess the most constructive comment I can make is maybe you should
consider taking up fishing :-)))

| And don't forget the pre-nuptual agreement... you hunt and thats that!
better to get the shit out in the open up front.... before she attachs
the ball... ;^)
These are all good tips... and we have many more, just ask! ;^)
congrats, Fra

933.8 | | GIAMEM::J_AMBERSON | | Fri Mar 29 1991 10:49 | 11 |
| Confession time... My "planning isn't exactly perfect either. My
son was born Nov 27, right in the middle of bird and NY deer season.
Kate, my daughter, was born on Dec.30(tax deduction, more money back=
new gun for Dad), which didn't help goose season. I figured that by
now I had this figured out. So I mad sure that the third one would not
be due during hunting season. The third is due May 9, the first week
of turkey season in NY. So don't feel bad.
"A not tonight dear, nine months from now chuck season opens, Goodnight"

it. Maybe you ought to consider moving to a state where the season opens up
the first week opf november. :-)

| I hear its pretty hard to track deer while you're dragging around the
ball and chain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
won't that ring thru your nose get in the way of the bolt/slide?
Sorry! couldn't resist. If you discuss it up front with her she will
understand later. and most of the time you should not ahve a conflict
but I think you may suffer from some guilt going hunting soooo close
to the anniversary that your wife will probably be getting things like
diamonds or better yet when your anniversary falls on opening day
take her out hunting with you. Think of those cold autumn nights.
Congrats on getting hitched!

When "we" were planning "our" wedding the plans were for a 3 week
honeymoon. So my wife said since we are going someplace warm why
don't we go in October. When I looked at the calendar I said no way
there is to much time lossed to hunting season. But if you want to go
at that time of the year lets change the location to Alaska and I can
get some hunting in at the same time. Well needless to say the date was
changed to June and we went to Hawaii, I did ask about hunting seasons
on the islands but none were open. But I did charter a boat and go for
Blue Marlin. Now this year there are two weddings scheduled 11/9 &
11/16 that my is also a bridesmaid in both. When she found out the
dates the first thing she said to the couples was "I'll be there but
Guy is usually in Canada hunting on those dates so I don't think he
will be there". So as Fra mentioned set it straight up front and no one
will be disappointed later on.
Thanks "Dear",
Guy

| I also have a confession to make, my oldest was born November 7th...
and almost every year, either bow or rifle, someone is getting married.
and I'm "inclined" to go, lest I be in deep sneakers otherwise... Can't
tell you how many openers i've missed in VT over the last 14 years...
But I must admit, it's paid off in the long run.... now when the
seasons are here, a week or 2 hunting is not a problem whatsoever!
I think i'll keep her!

933.13 | My first love is the woods | ODIXIE::RHARRIS | | Tue Apr 02 1991 11:46 | 20 |
| Well I have told her from the very beginning that I am commited to deer
hunting. I told her since we were getting married opening day, and my
best friend deer hunting buddy was to be a groomsmen, and that the
honeymoon is going to kill the first doe day weekend, she was going to
have to buy me a new hunting rifle with a ultra expensive scope. She
said yes. I also told her, that soon as we get back from the honeymoon
on a friday, that night I was going deer hunting for the weekend. She
had a fit. I told her,"Hey, do you want me in the woods for the
weekend, or do you want me at home bitchin cause all my friends are in
the woods and I am here?" She said, go to the woods. That way she can
start putting that "womans" touch to the cave. She knows I am a deer
hunter, and I told her when deer season is over the first of January,
it's trout season. Then it's golf, then it's football. Her reply was,
"Every weekend, like HELL!!" So I said,"Well, ok twice a month except
for deer season. For deer season, three weekends a month."
I told her she was my first passion, and deer hunting was my second.
Guess what, she bought it!!!

| MAN, maybe I should just put on a tan jacket, white gloves, and a
moosehead cap and skip through the woods opening day and put myself out
of my mysery. I hope this is all ribbin, but geez, that's all Ive
heard, maybe I should just skip town.

Get her interesting in hunting in a hurry! Perhaps a day of so of
your honny moon should be spent in the woods. This would at least
let her know it is important to you.
Remember what the drill sargent used to say though, I will start
it. " This is my riffle ____________________________. " Don't
forget! (joke).
Of course you always could hunt or move to another state with a
November season. Good Luck I say with a smile!

Get your wife interested... That's what my husband did! I got tired of
being left behind all of the time.... I've always loved the outdoors, I
just never hunted before... I took my hunter safety class, my hubby
taught me to shoot and is still teaching my the fine art of hunting!
Proud to say that this will be my second year of deer hunting and I
LOVE IT!

| re a few back. My hnting season goes from 10-18-91 through the new
year. They also increased the limit of deer by firearm from 3 to 5.
I get back from the honeymoon on a Friday, take my new hunting rifle to
the woods, while the better half starts doing that woman thing to our
house, which used to be my cave.
bob (I will try and get her into hunting)

| Wow! I just got the 91-92 hunting regs, and firearms season opens on
10-26, not 10-19. The weekend following the opener is doe day weekend.
Well, since I will be in Jamaica for honeymoon on opening day, I can
still make doe day weekend. No problem mon! At least there is bow
season 39 days away.
