796.1 | Hey, yea you, I got a question...;-) | FSOA::EPETERSEN | | Tue Oct 09 1990 19:13 | 12 |
| Try to get familiar with the area you'd like to hunt (after you've
figured out what you'd like to hunt for). Look for other hunters in
the area and talk to them. Ride around and check out a few of the
WMA's and talk to the people hunting around them.
New Englanders aren't always the first to strike up a conversation,
but when you start asking about hunting I find that once you ask a
question it's hard to get them to shut up... ;-) (myself included)
good luck, and don't be shy, walk right up and ask!

| Welcome to the area and this notes file.
On the game regulations you got you should find the address and/or
phone number of the district headquarter. I believe for your
area it is located in Acton. The overall headquarters I think are
in Westboro. I suggest you go pay them a visit. They can tell
you were they stock pheasants and where the WMAs are located close
to you. I would do that ASAP before the season gets in full swing.
The spend as much time as you can getting familiar with those areas
and strike up conversations with other hunters there.
good luck,

| ref the 1st 2 notes good advise. there are some TOWNS CLOSED to HUNTING
and these District Wildlife Offices should have a reasonably currant
list of the Towns Closed to or restricted regulations on Hunting, make
that your first stop. Good Luck!

-< Leominster state Forrest >-
Is this State forrest open for hunting? Anyone have any
experience or suggestions? I see "Hunting Area" signs
posted along the road on what must be the South portion
of the forrest. I've called the published phone number,
but no answers.
Thanks,
George
