..... Not so fast, Bruce. I want to arrow another buck in October
first (Maybe two if the laws change according to the Dept's
recommendations). I want to also go out and catch some sweet brook
trout this spring...
Ho, Hum, Dead time in between Ice-fishing and trout fishing
(and shooting a few chucks on occasion) -
Of course there's always some spring scouting, right Bruce?
See ya in the album, Rob

| Last night I watched 5 whitetails feeding just before dusk in a field
in Stow, Mass. Last weekend my wife and I went for a hike in Andover,
Maine with the specific intent of looking for moose antlers. I found
one, a real big one with about a three foot span, big wide palm and
several ling tines, not chewed by the mice yet. Two weeks earlier with
a troop of boy scouts we found two moose antlers (not matched) in the
same general area. (That's what prompted me to go back on my own last
weekend.) Boy I love seeing things like this!

Well, I'm just winding down from the last pheasant hunt
of the season. This past Friday, we snuck in before the
close of the shooting preserve season here in Mass., and
managed to work three shorthairs on a bunch of pheasant.
At the end of the day, we had ten birds in the bag, and
had opportunities at 14. The dogs had a fine day ;-)
There is no time to be idle with the number of AKC
Hunting Tests being sponsored by different New England
area dog clubs this Spring & Fall.

seen 10 deer on different occasions with 4 at one time. One was
between me and my truck, which was ony 60 feet away. But they are
just too damn fast for me and my camera. But I will kepp on trying.

Bret,
When you say "too fast" do you mean that your pictures are
blurred or you're not getting a shot at all because the deer spook?
I've found that even on sunny days 400ASA speed film works well
because you're in the woods instead of out in the open. If they
are spooking on you and you really want some pictures, act just
like you're hunting them and still- or stand-hunt to get the
picture. I got some really good ones of a couple of does last
season when I couldn't drive to my huntin' spot but I did have
time to spend the morning in a local state park.
FWIW,
Scott
