602.0. "PHOTO ALBUM?" by KNGBUD::LAFOSSE () Wed Jan 31 1990 19:43

This may be off the wall, but it got me thinking... thinking, what a
    concept!

Anyways, I was reading in another conference where all the noters sent
photos of themselves and their bike to one person who put together a
photo album to be passed around. It is currently overseas, and is soon
to be on its way back for a face lift with new pictures etc...

This would give everyone the opportunity to get a glimpse of the
people you read about/converse with each day in what I think is the
best notes file going. It give a chance to "meet" those hunter from
out of state/cross country/overseas.... who we wouldn't otherwise see.

    whatcha think?

I also think this is a great idea. This is one of the reason
we started the Game supper. It was not only about good food
but brotherhood. The disappointing part about the Game supper
that this idea takes care of is that I realize people from Colorado,
Vermont,Ohio, and other states to many to mentioned can not come
to Mass for the Game supper.

I beleive this is a good way to close this gap. Why we might even
consider taking some photo's at the game supper and adding them to the
    photo Album.

    Regards,
    Bear

Great Idea, Will give us Vermonters up here a chance to see what
you all look like. Another recommendation, where possible, use a field
picture or one showing you and your favorite bagged game!

Should we start sending you pictures Fran?

602.6wellll???KNGBUD::LAFOSSEThu Feb 01 1990 18:4633
I'll be happy to do it... worse case it'll give me something to do in
    my spare time... 8^)

Looking for additional thoughts on this, but what I was thinking was
putting in a couple of pictures each, with info written on the back of
the picture (to keep from losing info written seperatly when I start
    recieving all the photos).

Any picture will do, but one during some kind of hunting experience
would be preferred. Whether it be just standing around chewing the fat
with the boys, climbing down from your treestand, practicing, or for
those lucky enough, standing next to their game, whatever... include
    some info with each shot.

    Basic info: name/facility, date,game,weight,points,weapon,where etc...
hunting partners etc... you get the picture 8^)

When I get a good amount of pic's, i'll start putting it together, then
we can forward it out west for it to make its rounds. Meanwhile I
would like to keep recieving pictures of additional events/noters to
add to the album when it makes it back here... then we can send it out
again to who knows where... We can give it a facelift once a year or so
to keep it up to date...

Would be nice to see pictures of Gordon with his many elk (I kinda
picture his house to have horns hanging all over the outside wall like
Kirk Darner's 8^) ) Brett with his antelope/muledeer, Scott with his
bear... etc.. I would expect everyone who reads the file to send
pictures, not just the ones lucky enough to score.

Looking forward to it, what do ya'll think?

Okay, I'm sending my pictures today. It was really hard for me to
find any decent ones. I never take a camera and have to depend on
others to give me pictures. I don't have the pictures from this year,

are in them, but I haven't gotten copies yet. You know how that

hav'nt figured out the best way to get this thing out to everyone...
open for any and all suggestions... I would say, first class mail.
Not sure of the exact reason for not going with the interoffice route,
something to do with personal mail... I would say though that it would
only have to be mailed from the most remote facilities, I was planning
on delivering it to the facilities close by and let them forward
it on as they see fit... when it has exhausted local hand delivery,
it would get mailed to say augusta/burlington, then colorado/washington
    etc...

glad everyons taking an interest... makes it that much more exciting
    when the pictures come in.

I'd say make the first couple of pages, in the album, a list of all the
names and street address of who has sent in pictures. Group the names
by city/state so we can use it as a check list.

Scratch your name off when your finished and send it on to the next
    person.

I would suggest first class mail too if it needs to go out of state.
Postage can't be that high priced. Even hand deliver it if possible.
I know it could hit 3-4 people here in Colorado Springs.

    Any other ideas ?

Anyone who does any traveling, please post your plans (a separate note is
probably best). We can probably get the book to most places by taking advantage
of the fact that many people visit remote facilities. The local spots can
easily be taken care of by hand delivery.

602.51I finally sent it!SALEM::MACGREGORFri Feb 23 1990 15:4613
    	Fra,
I finally sent out a picture today. I did it through interplant
mail. I really don't have any recent pics but I do have one from
1984 (can't even remember that year) that I sent you. My beard is
a little more filled in now and of couerse I have added a few more
pounds (don't ask how many) but there isn't really that much of
a drastic change in myself since then, although alot of people might
disagree. Although the deer in the picture isn't my first and not
my last by any means. But the intentions are there. Although that
deer wasn't all that big (127lbs.) it has a very special meaning
to me because it started an incredible string of luck in the next
few years following it. I can't wait to see that album.

I finally found some pictures of elk with real racks. I'm sending

back. Did you ever get those buttons made from those horns I sent?

Any of you that are interested, I sent Fra a picture of the game
cart I made to haul game out of the woods with. As you will see
we can put a whole elk, less head and legs below the knees, on it
and two men can handle it. It sure saves time, energy, and the
meat. If anyone is interested in more details after seeing it

I will add a list of names and addresses on the inside cover, listed in

grand opening at this years game supper... I would prefer that this
be shipped U.S. Mail, rather than interoffice.

I will also place the extra pictures in an envelope in the back...
Anyone who sent me extra pictures that didn't get into the book can
    take em.

Hope ya like it... Was a pleasure to put together, and brought back
alot of fond memories. One thing I learned is that I don't take
near enough pictures... This will be taken care of post haste!
I would like to keep this thing going... hopefully get more people

Since I'm working next door to Fra, I conned him into letting me have the
album first. It is really interesting to match faces with the folks you
"know" through this notes file - Boy, are you guys ugly!

Seriously, Fra did a super job putting this together! There are some
great pictures. This is obviously a successful bunch of hunters. I have
to confess that I have already drooled on some of the pictures of deer.

There are also some nice dog pictures. The only thing obviously absent is
any pictures of you guys that claim how great your springer spaniels are
at bringing in the game! I guess it's easier to type in claims than to
come up with the pictures :-)

This album was a great idea!

I will be in underhill on Sept. 15 and 16 th. This is the underhill

You can ask anyone there ( or just about anyone) to point me out.

I only ask if I am on a field shooting that you wait until I come off
the field before approaching me about the photo album.

I need to know the alums where abouts and aproval to do this.

Later on this month Sept 29 and 30 I should be in the western part
of Mass and purhaps could bring out to Ludlow and I actually have
tenative plans to be in Maine so there are some posibilities there
    also....

Okay....Okay.... I fess up. I still got it. It had to bounce around
this part of the wilderness just one more time before starting it's
trip to the western badlands. A lot of non-deckies wanted to see it.
Most were impressed and some even recognized places in the pics. Like
the one of Tom Davis and Archie Lefebvre at Moosehead lake with their
deer. I hunted out of those camps many years ago as did this
    non-deckie.

It's scheduled to grab the next wagon train heading west from
Southampton station this saturday. The trail boss said they should stop
in NY for a little rest at the Lee Geible Hospitality Inn. and then
forge on towards the Rockies. A quick stop at the Springs to water the
Steeds and then off to the Northwest.

Steve, we stayed at Kokadjo instead of Wilson's this past year and
liked it even better. We hunted the Mt. Kineo/Cowan Cove area and saw
lots of deer. Of the 9 taken in camp, 5 were over 200 lbs, including
    my buddy's 207 pound, ten-pointer.

On Day 1 I passed on 3 nice does from 40 yards (I had a permit) and
they ended up being the only deer I saw all week.

When you come down, let me know and I'll take you fishing, we can catch
the catfish and my wife can make the hushpuppies!

If you come down in Oct-Jan15 and think you might want to go bowhunting
for a day or two, let me know. I'll even help you drag it out.

602.266Think you M-I-L could make us some chitlins to go with the fish/hushpuppies?LUDWIG::BINGThu May 30 1996 19:2715

Wess, the Hickman Courier(?) had a picture of two old timers with a
73 pound catfish hanging between them, what a fish! I guess they caught
him in the river. Think your wife can make enough hushpuppies to go
with one that size when we catch him?

I was thinking about bow hunting but then I have to make allowances for
bringing down my bow and stuff. As it is it may be just my son (who is
    4) and me, he'll be a handful himself never mind luggage/bow etc. I was
hoping my cousin would have a gun I could borrow if gun season is
around the time I'll be down. It would be much easier that way.

    Walt,

Hushpuppies the size of basketballs! I don't think she has ever made
them that big, but then again, I have never caught a 73lb catfish!

I guess you are right, the 4 year old will be quite a handfull. I am
going to take my 6 year old muzzleloading this fall, he talks about it
at least once a week. When he starts talking about it his eyes start
glazing over, there is slobbering, his hands shake....I think he will
    do just fine!

Taking the kids/wife bluegill fishing tomorrow, supposed to be a nice
    day here in Ohio.
