    Well, last Wednesday night was a success with Bliss getting to see her
    first Hockey game!
    
    And we're hoping to get together tomorrow night after work..(that
    would be Tuesday, November 29th!).  Tentative plans are for Scupper
    Jack's in Acton.   Time TBA:  I've got to drive to Alewife to pick up
    Bliss and bring her out here so it probably won't be till 6:00 or 6:30.

    I realize that this is a late notice, but I'll give it a shot anyway.
    
    Ann Many, Art Jacques, Stacy Maitland, and Bob and I are planning on
    playing Laser Storm tomorrow night at Roll-on-America in Leomonster, MA
    tomorrow night.
    
    Price is $10 per person for the entire night.  Or, if you only want to
    play 2 games, price is $5.
    
    Time:  7:30-10:30
    
    We're planning on meeting in the parking lot at 7:30.  If you're going
    to meet us then, let us know and we'll wait for you.  Or, if you arrive
    later, we'll be inside either by the laser storm area or in the food
    area.

Some of us are a long walk (even by european standards) from Boston so if one of
us can pick you up at Alewife (a subway stop) as Jen mentioned and head out Rt2,
You should meet lots of familiar names. The two months should go by quickly.

I had proposed a Kimball's run while Kimball's was closed. We get a box of cones
and a few half gallons of ice cream and we all stand out in the parking lot of
Kimball's and eat ice cream cones to the surprise of the passing cars. I
proposed this back in December and then dropped the ball.

    Why not the Picadilly Pub on the lake just down the street???  They
    have free refills on soda and iced tea!!!  They also have the yummiest
    STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE!  The view is much nicer.  The parking is easier.

    I think they'll work to accomodate a large group on a Saturday...a
    quick call should tell.   When I went it was only 6 people for a
    weeknight dinner.   They were pleasant about it but just explained
    their situation and frustration at holding tables for people that don't

	Oh boy, I wish the dinner was scheduled for Saturday night.  I'm
scrimping to have enough vacation time for the cruise, I'm just going to make
it.

	Barber's Crossing is opening up a second restaurant, on Rte. 12 where
Landlord Ben's used to be.  Steve and I went to the one in Worcester once,
and weren't that impressed.  I has stuffed lobster, it was dry.  He had steak
that he ordered medium rare, it came out well done.  This was after waiting over
an hour at the table.  Guess we hit it on a bad night.  I've heard they have
the best prime ribs.

   6:30pm, that should give me time to pick up
   Tina and her Mom from Alewife.

   I only ...... need directions, starting from

    shopping malls)

   I've reserved a table under "Digital Friends" at the PandaWok tonight
   at 6:15 for 6-10 people.

   Here are the directions:

     - take rt 495 North towards Chelmsford  (this is further north than Littleton)
     - take exit No 32, it is the exit that leads towards rt 110
     - at the ramp take right 
     - at the first intersection take a left, that should be Rt. 110
     - go on driving down rt 110 for about 4 minutes
     - the PandaWok is on the left hand side in "Garrison Plaza"

   I hope you'll find it, the guy on the phone told me it is easy to find.

Well, we'll have two cars and the kids with us and I feel it would be bad form
to:

1) send the rest home while I stayed to have fun

2) Go home and then head right back out since it's an hour round trip from
there (keep in mind, my daughter is commuting into Worcester for the school. We
still live out in the boonies)

Friday night is also the primary night when we're all home together so the
above two are viewed differently in that light. 

Lunch at the 99 during the week would be easier to arrange

    fries, potatoe skins, mozzarella sticks, etc), so don't plan on
    ordering a Caesar salad, if you know what I mean. There's pool tables,
    bar, video games, air hockey, virtual reality games, etc for
    entertainment after we chow. Sound good to everyone?

    look for Jillians on your left (there will be a Texaco gas station

Ann's directions are right. It's between the Market Basket off Exit 32 and the
5 corners intersection (4 and 27) in Chelmsford (get off at exit 32 onto Rt110
and head north a bit more). There's a big tree near the turnoff and condos
across the street.

As for time, I think noon at the restaurant is about the earliest I can
handle. It'll be 30-40 minutes up to there for Maureen and I from down here
(she's following me up)

Ann Murphy can't make it so cross off that possible. Has Bob Morrison replied
via email yet? I don't know if I can survive being the only guy... (it's a
tough job but someone's got to do it) Sounds like one of the round tables
might work best.

Well, I'm not really sure if there's anyone in here to care but I'm active on
an internet mailing list called Cybermind. It's an interesting list and
there's developed quite a community around it. You can find out more at the

The reason why I'm mentioning this in here is because of what's happening this
weekend. I'm driving down to NYC to "fleshmeet" with some of the members as
well as at least one of the moderators and we're meeting at the @cafe

a group in London will be meeting as well and we'll be linked electronically
with all kinds of teleconferencing software. Looks like it's going to be quite
a global party. (can't find the cybercafe they'll be using in London in my

  What kind of place is the Plantation Club? This is the first I heard of it,
but then I don't spend a lot of time in Worcester or at clubs.

    The Plantation Club is kind of like a bar/restaurant. As soon as you
    walk in the room the bands play in will be in front of you. The
    restaurant is off to the left of the entrance. I've been there twice, I
    think, and it's got a great "ambiance" and the food is good as well. I
    can't quite remember what the menu was like, but I do remember that
    each time I ate there I hadn't any complaints. Sometimes, depending
    upon the expected crowd, they'll either have tables and chairs in the
    band room or not. The stage is kind of small, and the room can't be
    more than, say, 15-20 feet by 20-30 feet, so, at times, it can become
    overcrowded. All-in-all, I think anyone who goes there will appreciate
    it. It's quite popular and usually full when they have live
    entertainment, so be prepared...

    Hi Everybody,
    
    I never really did pick a time.  My friend said his band doesn't go on
    till about 10:00 p.m. but around 7 or 8 would be fine.   I do think you
    can get food there too.
    
    I'll go thru the replies and mail I've received and post a tentative
    list of who said they can and can't go so far....so respond to this

    	Just to back up your statement - YES, you can get food at The
    Plantation Club, and it's been pretty good from what I've had!!!
    Getting there a little early may be the best idea, since they tend to
    fill-up to capacity when there's a live band.

    I don't know how long they've been together but I do know they play the
    Worcester / Holden area as well as some others.   The guy I know is the
    drummer and works in HLO.

    	I was just wonderin' since I've lived in Worcester almost all my
    life - not that I'm bragging, since it's nothing to brag about - and I
    may have seen/heard them before. 
    
    	Over the past couple of years, I've been paying more attention to
    our local talent and finding out that there ARE a lot of TALENTED musicians
    locally! In fact, one of MY fav's, BLACK ROSE GARDEN, is playing at
    Ralph's this Friday night. My girlfriend isn't into that type o'music, so
    she'll be staying home or doin' somethin' else. BRG's celebrating their
    first CD release, from what I understand, and there is going to be a
    coupla other bands playing the same night in their honor. I can hardly
    wait to see/hear Rose Elliot again!!!

    OK....just to confirm.   We'll be gathering at the Plantation Club in
    Worcester tomorrow night, June 1st around 7:00 p.m.   I don't think the
    place is that big so we should be able to find each other and at that
    hour hopefully it won't be too crowded yet.  
    
    The band doesn't go on till 10:00 p.m. but we can eat, drink, and be
    merry until then!

    Here are directions if you're coming from the Hudson / Marlboro area:
    
If you take 290 West, you get off at the Main St. Shrewsbury exit. You bear to 
the right on that exit and come to a set of lights. Go straight through those 
lights to the next set. At the next set, take a left. That's Plantation Street. 
Be careful on this part of the street, there's a lot of construction going on. 
Follow Plantation Street until you come to Route 9. You cross over Rte. 9 and 
keep going straight. As you're going up P. Street, the road forks at an old 
firestation, keep to the left of the firestation. You'll pass Dino's Restaurant 
and the Plantation Club will be on your right.

    	I suggest Jillians. Lot's of tables, the crowds aren't bad if you
    get there before 8pm and they have an arcade for folks who don't shoot
    pool. They also serve 'pub grub' (nachos, cheese fries, etc).

    Jillians' cool by me! However, if anyone knows of someplace mutually
    accessable for those who live outside of the Worcester area we should
    probably take that into consideration. Also, we should discuss the best
    timeframes for maximum attendance for those who're restricted due to
    children, other activities, etc. Those interested, please continue to

    	Although this works for both of us so far, we may have to postpone
    'til next Friday for an 'official' get-together-thing...I figure this way
    people can make definite plans and we should know by next Thursday
    night just who'll be going and when so we can plan appropriately.
    Actually, I'd like to know by Wednesday so I can reserve tables, if
    possible, so we'll definitely have somewhere to play - rather than
    wasting our time waiting for some to open up.
    
    	So, depending upon the others' replies, we may decide to wait a
    week for the 'official' get-together, but I'd still be game for this
    Friday night, pending a review of my social calendar...Maybe we can do

    We haven't had a ::FRIENDS gathering in a LONG time.   The one back on
    June 1st wound up with a lot of last minute cancellations!
    
    I found out the same friend's band is playing at our FAVORITE hangout -
    CHOPSTICKS on Friday, September 20th.   The name of the band is 
    CITY PLAYERS and they are dancy,poppish, 'weddingish'.   Joyce, Lynne
    & Criag Sigel, and Stretch & Carole went to see them last time and
    could tell you more.
    
    So....what do you say people.  Do we want to plan dinner at CHOPSTICKS
    and then some music in the lounge???    Come say 'goodbye to summer'
    and 'hello fall'!
    
    It's been a very long time and surely we don't need a foreign visitor
    to justify a get-together do we???
