| They are normal. Don't worry about them.

| Huh? that may be so, but the message is bogus, since it can't be understood
without documentation of what the numbers mean. (Actually, there shouldn't
be numbers, there should be meaningful strings -- but until that is fixed, the
least you could do is tell people where to find documentation on what each
number means.)

1244.3 | FDDI State Messages | ZPOVC::ENGSOON | | Fri Feb 25 1994 09:24 | 5 |
| We urgently need the meaning of the messages, as our customer and their
router's suppliers need us to explain the messages to them.
Hope we can have a pointer to get the documentations on the messages.

| The message means the ring reinitialized. This is normally due
to someone entering or leaving the ring. The state is the internal
state of the adapter (3 means running, 2 means initialized).

1244.5 | DEMFA's FDDI state message | ZPOVC::ENGSOON | | Mon Feb 28 1994 11:06 | 9 |
| The messages were logged on a DEMFA in a DEC7000 system. Does the
message means that the adapter(DEMFA) has been initialized.
After we upgraded the DEMFA's firmware from v1.4 to V2.0, the messages
do not appear for the past 2 weeks. Any idea whether the DEMFA V2.0
can solve the messages.

| The messages are not errors. They are normal events.
I don't think OSF/1 support V2.0 of the DEMFA firmware (due to changes in
the port interface).
