    I called the number this morning you gave for PowerSurvivor and
    received the following info:

    There are no dealers in the Boston Area. The closest dealers are in
    Rhode Island, New Jersey, and Maine. The Rhode Island dealer was touted
    as very knowledgeable. I didn't get the company name, but the person
    and address are:

    Jim O'Connor
    1 Maritime Drive
    Portsmouth, RI 02871   (401)683-0307

    The Maine location is Maine Liferaft
    36 Union Warf
    Portland Maine 04101  (207)772-8095

    The units sell for $1795.00 US currency. Replacement parts can be
    purchased or an "Extended Cruising package" can be purchased for
    $129.00 which includes 6 pre-filters (unit when purchased comes with
    only two), a membrane kit, a repair seal kit and 10 packages of
    biocide.
    Assuming fairly constant use, you change the pre-filters once a month,
    use the membrane kit and repair seal kit after 800 hours of operation,
    and the biocide if you put the unit up for storage for 1 week or more.

    Ordering is 3wks out unless it's an emergency order. There are
    exclusive dealers in Europe (I assumed you were in Europe) and the U.S.
    manufacturer was pretty adamant about only selling to "U.S.
    individuals" or companies. If you wish to purchase one of the products,
    you may try to work something out with someone in one of the above
    locations or talk to the company contacts I listed above;
    they may not be as adamant as the manufacturer! The closest dealer to
    me (in Dallas Texas) is in Houston, about 280 miles away, so I may
    not be the best source, though I will be happy to get any additional
    info for you.

    You can reach me at DTN: 486-6496.

    Good Luck!
    Robert

1403.2Its cheaper in the U.S !HAEXLI::PMAIERFri Dec 08 1989 07:289
    Thanks a lot.Its exactly what I was looking for.

    The dealer for Europe is located in Geneva and he is asking $US 2687.-
    I'm going to need it in '91, so I have still some time left to get one.
    Does anybody have some experience with reverse osmosis ?
