184.0. "Weird Al Yankovick in my shower!!!" by COGNAC::GLICK (Fetching Down the Moon) Fri May 09 1986 13:26

My wife and I both sing in the shower (together? only the shadow knows)
and sometime the words get a bit garbled. Sometimes the words just get
boring (Rock Lyrics four words = ten verses) and so we change them.

This morning my wife was singing that song with a Chorus of "You might as well
face it, you're addicted to love" The second time around however, it came out
"You might as well face it, you're a chicken of love."

Any other weird Al Yankovickisms out there (Previously unpublished by the
aforementioned)?

Not an original, but heard on the radio yesterday:

	"Got a little French friend
	 She's named Croissant
She's very classy but a Danish she's not"

	"I'm a Danish, I'm a Danish
	 I'm a Danish
	 I'm a Danish, I'm a Danish
Go on and eat me I'm a Danish."

Sung to the tune of "Amadeaus", by Falco.

My nephew is *still* convinced the Rolling Stones sing:

"I won't be your pizza burnin'..."

I've been doing 'em for decades, too... Just this morning, I gave
    forth with a rousing chorus of "It's my life and I'll do what I want;
I'm Barney Fife and I'll arrest who I want."

My college band did covers of David Bowie's "All the Young Dudes" and
the Stones' "I Am Waiting" with completely new lyrics 'cause I couldn't
    stand singing the original ones.

It's an old rock tradition to make up words to existing music.
Supposedly, Lou Reed could invent dozens of verses in concert. My
favorite example is the live "Louie Louie" on "Metallic K.O." by Iggy
and the Stooges. Y'know how everyone thought the Kingsmen version had
dirty lyrics because they were mumbled so badly? Iggy managed to come
up with genuinely dirty lyrics that sound almost exactly like the
mumbling. (Lyrics available by mail to the scholar. (: >,)

    I always liked Bruce Springsteen's " Born in the U.S. Mail" 8^)
    It's an intresting concept.

Revivifying a dead thread, my wife was recently listening to a video of
an Abba concert, when they got round to their song with the lyric
"Take your teeth out, you and I know...."
