315.0. "Need help with some translations" by COOKIE::WITHERS (SN*W is a 4-letter word!) Fri Jan 08 1988 22:22

    My wife and I have just aquired a new kitten and have been in search
    of a name. What's this got to do with Celtia? Well, one of our
    other cats is named Orin (white of furr) and we've been trying to
    keep in the theme. That's where our limited library of English-Irish
    books has failed us.

    The "working name" for our cat is Dubh Fionnadh 'cause it mostly
    describes the kitten. But other names in the running are "black"
    or "blacky", "Amber" (his eye color), or "Dusty" ('cause that's the
    way he gets), and "Midnight". Could anybody aid me and let me know
    and let me know translations for these relatively common words?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    BobW

    Leaprechauns have good memories.

    I recall two successive skinnings of the proverbial cats. Watch
    it Martin, only seven left.

    Snake loves the balmy summer days -- the Halcyon days wherein we
    wallow.
